Love Setters, great to see the splash of white, have a look at the Irish Hot Dog above and see the nose difference

    Meets all "cute" criteria. That's a 10.

Yesterday after Church, the "Blessing of the Animals" was held a few miles away. Our Pastor presided and there were about 50 dogs, two cats and something really weird in a small cage ... not sure what. Colby was the oldest dog there at 14. Not one growl or bark in anger all afternoon. Well behaved group.

He's young enough that I can still out run him.

    Default Abbey

I had to put my dog down on Monday. It's hard when it's the result of a long gradual decline, as opposed to something more immediate like cancer. His legs started giving out 2 years ago (he was 11 1/2), and even though they were stable (but very weak) at this point, he was also incontinent, not a good combo with our new son Oscar (like Freire). He might have lived another year or two, but it was his time. He was my first dog ever and I cried at the vet and when I got home. He was with me for almost 1/3 of my life, from before I met my wife until after we had our first child. They were the best years of my life. Here's some baiku as my friends call it, in memory of Abbey (aka, Abbey No, Abbey Normal, originally named after Edward Abbey):

    Flying on the trail,
Me on my bike, him on foot,
    Miles of smiles.

    East coast to west coast
    And everywhere in between
    My partner in crime.

    Abbey, my good dog.
I gave him a great life, he
    returned the favor.

    Jimbo- my condolences.
I’m in the senior housing business so have become somewhat inured to the concept of old people passing away, but the mere thought of losing my dog leaves a hollow feeling in my gut.
Sounds like you have a good outlook and are looking back on the good times.

Newest edition to our pack: "Piper" (as in bagpiper--not Palin)

And with her big sister Biscuit finally starting to think she might be useful, if only for a pillow.

Schnauzers are the best! We lost our mini two and a half years ago, but our standard keeps us on our toes.

    Daisy - Boston
Belle - Lab in her hiding place

Not the best photos, but they were all I had on this PC.

Hey Chad, I had a Norwegian Hooded rat as an breeder / pet for 5 yrs. He was very domesticated, I could let him roam within reason. "Ratso" also was pretty great getting people past fears of vermin. Odd pet for sure.

Lilly is a doll, very tame and friendly. We have had several rats, really wish they lived longer, maybe we're just bad rat owners but 2 - 3 years seems to be about all we can get. My kids know I'm a sucker for rats, dogs and cockatiels. Both the dogs will tolerate her, although I don't trust them around her unsupervised. She can often be found roaming my daughters bedroom somewhere in a pile of stuffed animals.
