Sun bathing. There is a little bit of male-male thing going on between the two but Max seems to be accepting the new guy OK.

    Ladies and gentlemen,
Just a friendly reminder to remember the safety and well being of your furry friends during the upcoming 4th of July holiday.

I'm concerned with my new pup. Don't want to leave her alone at home but the lake we normally spend the weekend at will be quite noisy as well. Not sure how she'll handle it. She's not gun shy, but fireworks are quite different. I'm planning to try and create some white noise for the dogs and leave them inside. I hope that will be sufficient.

    Have a safe 4th!!

Yeah, we'll be at the beach, and my dog will probably park herself firmly under my legs on the couch when the fireworks begin.
Strangely, the recent thunderstorms haven't scared her like in the past; I guess the thrill of rabbit stalking outweighs it sometimes.

My 16 year old grandson is down visiting. He and the dog go from 60 mph to dead stop in a heart beat. He took the golden for a walk and I think the heat and humidity got to them.

Looks like the dog is getting the raw end of that pillow arrangement. Dog gets table, grandson gets dog.

Shitty, shitty news this weekend. The brown dog named Blue was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. No films yet.

Someone please tell me a story of how well their dog is doing with dysplasia, I could really use some positivity right about now.

Have a neighbor with a 10yo wire-haired pointer diagnosed almost two years ago. Moose is the best trained dog I've met in a long time. She stopped going for walks. Prognosis was a couple of months of good experiences left. He got on a replacement waiting list and the new dog is now a year old. Meanwhile, Moose is back to old form. Going for 3-4 mile walks and teaching the young one how it is done. No one knows why or how. Neighbor counting his blessings for now.

Not a typical experience. Every body is different.

Looking through this thread made me really miss my pup. I rescued him from a deplorable situation. Could see all of his ribs, there was weeks if not months of feces, no food, no water. Neglet, outright neglect. No doubt in my mind he would have died there. I was working overtime on a Saturday and happened upon him, sat with him for an hour before deciding it's not my affair. That night, i couldn't sleep. It was maybe 3am and I got my shit together and went back to the basement of that apartment complex and took him. Bathed and started to slowly feed him. I called the Delaware Humane Society and the SPCA the following day and told them what i had done. "If someone calls for the dog we will contact you Mr. Rogers" the woman said. I called her back each week for maybe six weeks, the last call I got out as much as "Good morning ma'am my name is Justi..." before she sharply interrupted, "JUSTIN. You realize nobody is going to call for this dog don't you?" I replied, "Okay well what do I do?" ... "Go get his shots" she said.

I was already attached to him at this point. Puppy health insurance at Banfield a few days later and all of his shots, operation ect. I don't know what he was, some sort of Spaniel or mix thereof. A bird dog no doubt. Absolutely loved to run. He would go out on up to 10k runs with me, stopping every so often for water and to pant a little and get his composure. He was the best thing that ever happened to me in my 26 years at the time. After I was diagnosed with crohn's, i got very sick very fast. About 18 months in I couldn't take the look on his face and somber appearance anymore. He needed to be out and enjoying his life and I was sick and inside. Tough decision to make, but I couldn't care for him like he needed to be cared for. I certainly didn't pull him out of a cell just to keep him in a box either. We had some great years, and now he is on my friends farm down lower Delaware, running just how he is supposed to be.

We had to euthanize our 12 year old family member about a week ago

Very emotional for all of us especially our high school age kids who had grown up with her.
Now we only have this lonely apex predator
