Decided to work with Nao again on my next project, a 650B hard tail for the lovely New England single track in my neck of the woods.

    More later....

#17 is in the trusty hands of Chris at Circle A Cycles. It got the base coat yesterday and today he is going to shoot the top coat. This bike will actually be at the Bike Cult show (along with me) so I'm pretty psyched.

I know not the best photos, but I was excited!

Again, yes, I'm pretty jazzed (and I've had WAY too much caffeine today)....

I really, really, really love the paint colors on your Tomii bikes. They are perfect.

Beautiful. What's the story with that gusset (?) under the head tube?

I love that Nao can legitimately incorporate a smiley face into his logo.

Instead of using a traditional gusset, Nao designed that cool shark fin thingy.

I'm so elated you & Reba bagged the race and were around to join in on the fun for the show and the ride. Also glad you were there to document the maiden voyage of Tomii #17. That being said, I really enjoyed my first ride on #17 at Graham HIlls. I don't think I could have picked a better place myself to test out this beast as it had a perfect mix of just about everything to throw at it. Nor could have I picked a better group of folks to ride. I will certainly be making a bee line to Westchester over the next several weeks to get some more single track under my belt.

Anyway, this bike is absolutely dialed in. Nao did a great job. Geometry is different than my previous east coast single track bikes. Top tube is longer. Handlebars are wider. Fork travel is greater. Head tube is slightly more slack (not much though). Even with all of these changes, I felt right comfortable in the cockpit. I was running a much fatter tire than I have been (2.35 versus 2.0; they looks great at the show) and I liked them but think I'll go back down to something more narrow. The 2.35 climbed well, had great grip and rolled over most everything I threw at them. This bike is NOT made for speed but rather for handling. Even so, I think it performed admirably on this ride with a bunch of very fast 29er folks. Speaking of 29ers, I also got to ride Ezra's UTA. Uh oh….

Here are some photos from the ride and the show (from Seth Rosko and Ezra Caldwell):

    Mr. DP,
It was my pleasure meeting you this weekend and chit chatting about bikes and stuff. Your tomii looked awesome and I hope those wide handlebars did not slow you down on those narrow east coast trails.
