    I put a chromed steel fork (Tange Prestige) on my break-away and also some 28c corsa g+ tires (measure 28 mm on Hed Belgium rims) - ample clearance on old campagnolo calipers (pre-skeleton record). Rides really nicely with new fork and tires.

    One issue i had was the spring clearance on the rear single pivot - the rear brake cable routing at break-away joint makes it difficult to take tension off the caliper as it is a very short run. I had a short length of Nikon cable which is more flexible than other housing and that helped back off a lot of the tension on the rear brake and allowed the springs to be more balanced / less protruding on one side - has anyone else had this issue and resolved in a cleaner way?

    It's far more extreme but MasiSpecial removed the brake bridge and re-brazed it a little higher on his BreakAway. The lack of rear brake clearance is surprising as the rest of the frame is well thought out.

    Thanks Tristan - I have a few mm's clearance now with 28 mm measured tires and the spring is just showing (not a bad as previous) but will think about this brake bridge fix if I am ever getting the frame repaired / painted

    Finally built up Tristan's Break Away, after its long flight from NZ to UK last month.

    Maiden voyage proved what a sweet riding frame it is, easily good enough to be a best bike.

    Bought this old pre-plexus stay generation Swiss Cross (had already been repainted) to build up a go-fastish, nice riding, stealthy commuter for my wife after she fell in love with my modern Swiss Cross.

    Our goal is to keep it stealthy. So the painted over patina is kind of a good thing. But I'll let her know that rebranding is an option.

    I nearly put one of my two etap groups on the Steel Breakaway further up, I still could at some point. As it is SRAM Force 1x reduces the cables down and the clutched rear mech provides super quiet running.
