And the saddle shootout continues, now with a Fabric Scoop Shallow (and a new PRO PLT post to go along with it).

First real ride today and it seems pretty good. Much more cushioning than I'm used to, so it still needs a little tweaking to actually get the position right. The others are a Fizik Antares, Fizik Arione, Astute, older Prologo Nago Evo and new Prologo Nago Evo. I haven't tried all of them yet. My baseline is the 2nd gen Selle Italia Flite, which I have on most of my bikes. My stockpile is running low and they wear out way too quickly, so I wanted to get ahead of the game in finding a new favorite. One of these days I'll start a saddle comparo thread with more info about each of them. The toughest thing has been figuring out where to put them to effectively sit in the same place. The differences in shape, rail position, length and cushioning have made for some pretty big differences in my fit measurements (not my actual fit, though). For example, the Fizik Antares is stubby, wide, and very cushioned compared with the Flite. So my setback measured from the nose of the saddle is a full centimeter farther back and saddle height is around 3-5mm higher to get the same leg extension and hip angle. The Fizike Arione, on the other hand, is a mile long, which effectively shortens my setback measurement. Anyway, those are my initial thoughts. And if Selle Italia would revert back to the 2nd gen flite I'd buy a dozen and stop the saddle shootout today.

Interesting note on the padding. None of the bike shops here stock the fabrics to be able to check them out.
The issue im having with my saddle now is that there is too much/wrong shape? padding and its crushing around the edges. Im going with a more dense/lower padding this time around since I ride with a good quality pair of bibs for my longer rides anyways.

I'm on the same page and had a similar issue w/ the Aliante. My Romin shell is thin w/o padding but is very flexy though - the rails are flexy too I think.

    Annoyingly flexy?

My lbs told me to try spesh saddles even though he doesn't sell them. I think that's saying a bit.

The Fabrics have more padding than I am used to, but it isn't like sitting on a pillow. Whatever they make it out of, it compresses without losing its consistency, so you don't feel the saddle shell underneath. I've tried the Flat, Shallow and Radius. I've always thought of myself as a flat saddle person, but the Radius was the best. The nose of the Flat and Shallow was too wide between my thighs (ahem) and my thighs are in no way large. But the Radius was better, and I think that while the arc of the saddle side to side is slightly more in the Radius versus the other two, the shape of the sitting area front to back is not as dramatically different. So even though the saddles all come in 145, the Radius rides narrower and feels more like a racing saddle than the others to me and the most like the old Fizik Aliante.

It's great when hammering. If I'm spinning along in the small ring, I tend to bounce a bit. Could also be lower tire pressures, my ti seatpost, or my arse, but I can see the saddle flexing under me.

Here is the newest addition to the family. Thanks again Kevin.
Without a doubt the fastest rocketship I've ever been on!
There are still some adjustments to make, i.e.. standard crank, short cage derail, slam the stem.....
