Thanks guys. Custom Bold post, brown sotto voce King headset. I'll build it with Sram Red, some Reynolds/White wheels, a Thomson X2 and probably give the 3T Rotundo bars a shot.

Frame lands Thursday so hopefully I can get it built for the weekend!

Ah, yeah, thought that was a bold post.

You're going to love that bike so hard.

    So hard.

    Lovely, simply lovely.

I've gotta get my grubby lil paws on a Spectrum (again...sold my other like a fool), in steel preferably. This year's tax return.....

Tom--how 'bout we set up a play date for our labs? Mine's a dudley yellow and is also fast enough to catch birds and butterflies on the wing.

    Default Colby

would love to meet him. Sad to say that she is not as fast as she used to be. She is now 13 years old, and for her age she is still in pretty good shape but 13 is getting pretty old for a lab. Still as sweet as ever. I made sure that she licked Justin's frame before we wrapped it up yesterday.

The painted carbon fork is a nice touch. Almost looks like there are two different blues coming through on that paint, it's sweet.
I gotta' make an appointment with Albert Bold for on of those cool seatposts for my Spectrum, too.

    Default mostly complete build

Ride report: took the maiden voyage out today for an easy 45 with my wife and another couple, country roads and rolling hills with a few nice climbs. This bike is everything I expected in its first impression: fast, climbs beautifully, has a muted yet responsive buzz over SC chipseal and the like. Even took it through the gravel and grass at the end. . . the ideal d2r2 rig, right? Hence the small ring photo anyways.

Tom kicked ass with this frame design--the geometry is sublime and fits me to a T. There is something to the idea that a substantially sloping ride accelerates in a really cool way.

The build is lighter than I expected, especially with the carbon climbing wheels (Reynolds KOM rims and White hubs--Tom and I were both using these in the spring) and the Red group. The new bits for me--Edge 1.0 fork, 3T Rotundo bars, and Bold post--were killer. I love the drops of the 3Ts, they locked my hands in just right. Oh yeah, I used the Yokozuna cable set as recommended by Brendan at CC and they seem to be a big improvement over that stock crap that sheds like a snake and sticks like gum. I'm still waiting on the CK brown spacers to make the second fork cut.

Check out the paint detailing again, it's just killer. The blue is magical and white against ti. . .well, it's just what I wanted. Thanks for looking and support Spectrum ya'll.

that is something special - well done! :congrats:it's gorgeous.

i can just imagine how that bike must float. what degree of slope is that?

now that you've ridden both bikes with the same wheels, could you compare for us the ride of this spectrum with your nagasawa?

    Thumbs up

justinf, what finish Deda stem is that you're using?
Looks like a great match to the Bold seatpost. Your new titanium bike is sweet!

Thanks guys. The stem is a Deda zero100 in silver--it does look a lot like ti. Albert Bold does great work do doubt. As far as the comparison, the Naga is like my vintage Colnago-made new fantasy realized. It tracks so cleanly and descends in the purest fashion.

The Spectrum makes a case for most refined race-to-long race/ride bike out there. It's light by modern standards, vibrant, just feels great. The two are very different but I'd be happy with either as my only. I am interested in the Spectrum as compared to my Legend Ti over time, but not sure that's even fair. We'll see.

oh yeah--it's an 8.0 deg slope on the TT.
