    Design of Paint/Color
Tom does a crazy obsessed job on his paint. He recently did a series of Periscope videos detailing the process on a batch of frames. Even on this frame, the amount time it takes him is amazing. I prefer fairly minimalist treatment of my frames. (See another paint design here: http://www.velocipedesalon.com/forum...tml#post618853)

Probably spend as much time on the design of the paint as I do thinking about the bike and build. Itís fun and a nice way to keep the design side of the brain engaged. I wanted just a touch of color on this one, Iím still stuck on orange so that was a given, plus a couple of add'l colors to keep the orange company. Debated using a trio of ďribbonĒ colors as a tribute to diseases that took family from me but opted to keep it lighter and brighter.

Worked with a series of colors and settled on the trio that made it to the bike. Bright, interesting to me and the spacing/width/gap all considered into it as well The fork design changed late in the process when the fork the met requirements had to change and the graphics that were getting covered had changed as well. So I modified the asymmetric design and location of things. Added Tomís S logo to the tips and clicked send.

    Design of the bike
I ride a fair amount of trails/paths/gravel that many wouldn't consider "road". It's not stopped me from heading down many of them while on my road bike but find that then endless march of age thing has made some of my antics less kind to my body than in the past. So rather than give up seeing an option and having to just wonder where it goes or forego the joy of riding less-travelled ways, this bike is to make that more fun and comfy. I have come to enjoy Di2 so that was a given, the addition of hyro disc brakes are to help keep my hands happy. Think of it as light touch for shifting and braking. The option to run tires up to 40 was another design goal. This bike may also see some time on the CX course.

It is way too quiet in here. I can't really find anything wrong with this bike, I like everything about it.

I'm sorry. Should I have made a few errors in judgement? Maybe a dent or two? Just a thought.

Exactly, this is not the way to get repeat business. Perfect frame, then what ?

I hear Lionel likes when his brakes squeal. Maybe you should have drilled the mount on the rear bridge at an angle.

Actually come to think of it I need to replace the stem and bar when I get a chance. The deda superlegerra superlegerro 31.8 is too flexy. An integrated deda bar/stem would be killer.

Yes, I agree the Colnago is really nice, but what do you think about the Spectrum?

Coming down into Danville on sunday we actaully rode up to a guy on an older Spectrum. lionel and him chatted a while. the guy ask lionel how Tom was doing. they marveled at the fact its so rare to see Spectrums especially on the West coast etc. etc.

You don't see them in the south either, especially steel. I feel like the sole Spectrum representative in some distant outpost.

I see one here and there. Just about a month ago, I met a very nice lady riding a lovely purple Spectrum en route to Morgan Territory.

The only reason I don't lust after a Spectrum is that my TK designed Merlin is too good of a bike to replace.
I recently had some thoughts about refinishing it, but ended up deciding to keep the scratches (thanks UA!) and patina, just get a new set of decals to replace the old ones.
