    Default Gone Deep

Replaced Pro PLT stem/bar with Thomson stem & Deda Newton Deep bar earlier this year.
Nothing fancy, but loving the setup.

    Thanks for a kind word.

"simple & solid" was the goal. The frame is clear coated and head tube is engraved. 50T outer ring. The bike weighs 7.5kg.
Current stem is 100mm. Shortened it by 10mm to compensate for a difference in reach of the bars. (85mm vs 95mm).

    Top tube: 538mm c-c
    Seat tube: 507mm c-c
    Seat angle: 74deg
    BB drop: 74mm
    Seat height: 698mm

It makes me smile every time I ride!

Just a heads up; We finally put up a Flickr page with piles of images. We'll keep growing it as we have more stuff to post. If anyone has photos of our bikes that you'd like me to post on our page, just send them to me and I'll put them up. Thanks. Now, go back to work.

Hey Brian, I didn't know you're the one who ended up with this one. I know I seriously considered it when it came around. How does it ride compared to your Crumpton?

It's tighter and turns-in faster...some front-center/wheelbase voodoo I guess. Not whippy, but a bit more agressive than what Nick did for me...lots of fun, espeically in the twisties. FWIW, this is not the fork nor the rake that Tom originally spec'd, although he gave the Edge/43 his blessing (slightly shorter, slightly less rake). There's certainly a materials difference...this bike feels like stiff ti and the Crumpton has a stiff muted feel. The BB on this bike is really stout but the seat stays feel like they're taking up some slack...the Crumpton mutes a lot of road buzz but the back end definitely transmits more up to the saddle. I think the Spectrum like this is about 15.5 lbs and the Crumpton with a similar build is in the high 14's.

New to me, a Spectrum trackie. Fun times, and for once a steel track bike is actually the proper proportions for my long torso'd, short legged self. A beaut atmo!

Matthew: Do you mean the blue bike? If so, yes it is steel. You can't do custom rack and fender braze-ons on a composite fork. Well, you could, but the cost would be silly. Also, since the frame is steel and a steel fork looks best on that sort of bike ... well, you know. Just for information, the steerer tube is oversized, the crown looks very much like an old Cinelli SC, but it is wider to accommodate 32mm tires and fenders, the blades are Deda and the dropouts are our own. Helps?
