    ugly Crux...

    crux 3.JPG

    of special note:
    1. saddle beat to hell, matches nothing and I'm fairly certain the "gel" is no longer "gelish"
    2. zertz appear to well on their way to yellow-ish (yay for free) - maybe someday they will match the saddle?
    3. completely useless big ring, since I'm too lazy to dig out my shorty chainring bolts.

    but it rides right.

First new "bike" since 1981 for me, because i've always built up projects from frameset and grouppo.
I wanted a new commuter, and after looking around I decided this met all my criteria:
Fenders, front basket, single speed, chain guard, and basically no logos.

This was $500 retail, and I thought about spending five times that for something handmade,
but it wasn't in the cards right now. I'm very impressed Specialized, this is a great bike as is,
and i only swapped out the saddle, post, and pedals. (mainly for vanity and because i had them
on hand) It is stable, yet very manoeuvrable out of the saddle with weight in the basket, it
also climbs well enough in the hand position on the grips, which is important with only one gear.

My new Tarmac SL4. Still needs some work on the fit, but I'm liking it so far.

I really think that this is one of the best frames they have produced. I prefer this over my carbon Crux of the same vintage.

So I found this 2015 Specialized Pitch Comp 27.5er on a Facebook Page for $350 - it was mint.

Had been looking for a new bike for my daughter and this just happened to be the one that finally widened her eyes. Seemed like a decent frame with junk parts mostly.

Ditched the stock fork (6.1 lbs of Suntour crap - which seems to be stocked on half of the bikes in the sub $1k range at the LBS), swapped the drivetrain over to Shimano SLX 1x10 and an old GXP crankset I had.

The 30.5 lb porker is now a usable 23.5 lb rig and I haven't even touched the wheels and tires yet. Pretty cool.
