    Default Scarab Cycles

Time to throw Scarab Cycles into the mix here. The team outta Colombia is making some amazing stuff.

This is a flavor of their Santa Rosa, a pure road race bike. Many thanks to Nate as their US arm for guiding me through their process and the kick-ass photos, the end result has been stellar.

Really nice looking bike! I've not heard much about Scarab.

What was the fitting/design/buying process like? Wait time? Overall buying and riding impressions? Do you think that buying outside the US was any sort of hindrance or hassle?

I'm in the beginning stages of trying to pin down a builder for a steel "all road" (more "road" oriented than "all") bike and want to explore all options.

So badass. I'll see if I can get my buddy to post his Scarab here...or let me post it.

My main contact in the US was Nate King who's operating their US studio here in SF. And he's on the forum so maybe he'll stop by.

To your questions: Fab outside the US was not an issue at all. Delivery was spot on based on Nate's outline at the start of the process. So no hindrance or hassle at all.

Fitting and design was straightforward. I talked with Nate about what I wanted, what I like. Knowing my contact point numbers helped, so that expedited Nate building a geo around making sure everything was in the right place. Start to finish was a couple months, but it sat for a bit while I got around to getting Nate the bits to finish the build.

Buying was a pleasure and if you can get to SF Nate'll show you a good time in the Mission. It's early but initial impressions I put it on par with the Pegoretti as one of the best steel bikes I've ridden. Its a cut above the Della Santa I have. Which, given how much I love my Della Santa, is a pretty high bar to clear.

I met and briefly chatted with Nate at the PBE; he was very friendly and down-to-earth as he showed off a beautiful bicycle in the Scarab booth. Haven't been able to stop myself from looking at their website since.

Must be like a virus....I've only known about Scarab for a few days and also can't stop myself from looking at their website.
