I'm amazed that you have clearance for 25s, let alone 25s on wide rims in that frame

Built this up last year on the cheap, mix of all kinds of crap parts I had lying about. Added Crud Roadracers which I have absolutely loved for keeping the road spray off, looking to get some better fenders sometime soon.

    Question Re: Rain Bikes!

What are the fenders on Stormy Arthur's Cervelo? Pretty slick for tight clearances...

    Thanks, Doug

Doug, I had to remove the quick release tabs on the rear brake mounts. It cut down on the rattle significantly. On the front I used a long Sheldon nut, ground down slightly and some loc-tite on the brake center bolt.

The archetypes also flattened out the shape of the tyres which helped with clearance some.

This is my rain setup. Now in need of a fork and a bunch of replacement parts (and a collarbone) after I got hit by a car on it last month.

    Kinesis tk3, 11 -> 10 shimergo, SKS P35 guards and Ultremo ZX 28mm.

Default Rain bikes and big tires

Speaking of fitting bigger tires on rain bikes, what widths have people been fitting comfortably in ENVE forks? My new frame will have clearance for a 28 out back-

    11284687645_2967bee90c_c.jpg

but I have yet to try jamming a 28 in the 1.0 fork. They say it'll fit, but there's fit and then there's fit. Anybody done it/what were you using? I'll probably use Panaracer Pasela cause they're pretty supple without being Veloflex-spendy (anybody get sticker shock on tires, even at OEM price?)

Here is mine. It has been posted elsewhere on V-salon.
I will get some pics of my new fender mod. Hopefully they will never crack again.

The Pasela will fit-- but its tight enough that picking up any amount of gravel will damage the fork. For this reason Enve is recommending their cross fork for anything 28 and above that MIGHT be off pavement.

Exactly what I needed to know. I'll stick to the 25 up front and cry myself to sleep with slightly sore hands from the missing damping.

STEALTH FENDER MOUNTS- anybody do them regularly? I don't have a close enough relationship with the fender world to know a good solution, and also to know if there's a catch all or if you really need to know what type of fenders will be used. Anyone do fenders on the regular, or have some pics of both the good and bad when it comes to fender mounts?

Lemond Poprad with DA 7700 9 speed and Tektro cantis. I have used a set of Planet Bike fenders for the last three years with no problems. I've also been running 32mm Gatorskins mounted to Ambrosio Excellence rims and DA 7700 32 hole hubs. It's a smooth ride and pretty much a do all bike.

IME any fender will fit any fender mount, as a rough and very generalised rule.

As for stealth, a company called Sabbath Cycles in the UK built a mate's bike with bolt holes on the insides of the seat stays so that the fender mount holes were hidden from view when the fender wasn't being used. Also worth looking at what Merida and Giant are doing on their dropouts in this regard.

I loved that bike. Feel so sad I never got to ride it. I'm glad it got a good home and put to good use.

None of my bikes have proper fender mounts but the Crud things work pretty well.
