Default A few shots of mine

I just happen to have been trying to go through nine months worth of photos recently - my New's Resolution is to not let myself get behind like that again! - and have lined up the following shots of my DeSalvo. As many others have reported, Mike is brilliant to work with, very detail oriented and completely on-the-ball. This is a fat-tyre road bike, using 57mm brakes, with many subtle detail requests from yours-truly. Mike nailed every detail and the bike has been a pleasure to ride on many epics, long and short.

    Default My Road Bike

In it's "spring classic" setup. I usually have a deeper section carbon wheel for crits and road races. The ugly green bar tape is done as a bit of a lark. It really seems to set some people off. Bar tape is so easy to change that I'm certain I'll get tired of it and find some other color to annoy people for a while.

I can't say enough good things about this bike. I must have had it for five or six years now and can't even begin to imagine a better fitting or riding bike. It's been a great "new bike lust" killer.

Jaybay, such a worthy ride for a fine dewd :) You are always cooking up something special. If you get a chance can you talk about some of the details for this bike? Fast fat tyre bikes are very much on my radar lately.

Glad you like it, your Tallness!

As you know, I have a soft spot for fat tyres too. This bici was built with something like Rivendell's Jack Brown 33mm tyres in mind. I wanted to use no-muss, no-fuss 57mm sidepulls for brakes which means that the pads must be at the bottom of slots. Mike builds a bunch of bikes in this genre every year and has the fork length and brake bridge locations nailed.

Other details revolve around the fact that the frame is Ti and that I'm a biomechanical disaster who pedals heels-in. Mike dimpled the inside of the chainstays for tyre clearance and used slightly curved chainstays to give my heels a little more breathing space than they might otherwise have.

The (steel) fork also has some nifty cable guides that allow quick attachment/detachment of the wire between the hub and front light when I have the bike built up in rando' mode.

I might bore you more on D2R2 this year, although it sounds like The Boss wants to do it on tandem again...

Default My DeSalvos from the past

Mike at DeSalvo Cycles makes some pretty mean bikes...

A cross frame and a road frame that I used to own.

In May, I should be receiving a 10th anniversary frame.

    Default My dirt road machine

I use this bike for so much. It's my spare cross bike, my commuter, my dirt road exploration bike, etc. etc. Yet another bike of Mikey D's that he made for me that I love. I have 5 of his bikes and every time I ride one, I think "This may be my favorite bike." Then I spend some time on one of the others and think the same thing.

Please post a better pic of that! Don't let e-richie here that you have 5 DeSalvo's or he'll get all bent out of shape :)
