    Bro,

That bike is so sweet. Can't believe it was only a few weeks ago you were staring longingly at it in the NAHBS photo shoot......

Beautiful bike, bcp. There's just something about orange bikes! Couple this show winning frame w/SR11 and you have a keeper! I hope you enjoy many, many miles on it.

Default Re: Mike Desalvo- One More Anniversary special

Initial build - already swapped stem for something with less rise, my error. Had original stem and bars painted to match silver on frame.
Not sure about the tires, Veloflex in 22's - look narrower than I thought, and I like 25's. Thinking a Conti Duraskin type tire may be the way to go.

    Comments appreciated.

    Love it!

I am still kicking myself for backing out of the Q for one of the anniversary frames.

Might I ask where you found the antique brown Fizik tape/saddle?

New that question was coming - I had the saddle for a few years and had been searching for the tape - it came up on the Serotta forum ( never liked across the hall) about a year ago and I picked it up. Both have been in a box for a long time. Tape was pricey, never understood why manufacturers on such a recent product stop making what is apparently in demand. Unfortunately the saddle has a decent scratch in it. Hoping the weather clears tomorrow so I can try in this configuration. Originally had conti sprinters on with older drura ace hubs, the darker sidewall looked better.

Holy crap, that is a beautiful build (funnily enough, I'm drinking coffee out of my DeSalvo mug this morning). Mike, indeed, does truly amazing work. Are those painted to match Honjos? Are those nitto black cages? What are the build specs? That bike is sublime, well done.
    Cheers

thanks. yeah -- i had spectrum powder coat the hammered honjos, the nitto cages, the nitto rack, the goodrich stem, etc. to match. put some of ray's leather on the bars. i think it's a 56.5 virtual top tube (5* of slope).

    Default One more Tenth Anniversay

It's finally on the road! Built as a full time fender / fat tire bike. It'll even take cross tires. Nice to have a 'fat' tire bike that rides like a road bike. A couple of tweaks to take care of, but it was great to hop on it and feel right at home.

That's lovely...I've been kicking myself a bit for not getting one with better tire/fender clearance, but great bikes.

Is that an Erikson seatpost? Pardon my vanity, but how do you think it would match with a silver headset/stem? I'm tempted...

David, thanks. btw, your white DeSalvo is sweet too!

Scrooge, yes that's an Eriksen post. The finish on it is a bit more dull / darker than the silver of the King. I think they'd get along nicely, especially with the silver/gray of the paint on the bike. The head badge is a bit brighter than the post but not much.

Here's an attempt to let you see them closer together (and the fact that I need to do a final fork cut and spacer clean up yet).

It's fun to be on a bike with room for fat tires and fenders that's not a cross bike.
