I've got one of these. I love hearing from the dudes of a certain age about how much they wanted one in the day. It's every bit as good now as I'm sure it was then.

Decals missing, but it is an extralight.

This was my (sold) Merlin Cr Works....very light bike but unfortunately wrong size for me (note how many spacers i had....it was totally un-drivable...). Very nice bike indeed...great finish....btw lost ihmo some of the magic aura of the previous production....and now? What happened to this great name of cycle industry?

Looks so good! I don't think I've seen a painted Syntace stem before; looks amazing on there!

So, ummm, what does it weigh? Classy build and you obviously like the way it rides if you keep and repaint it rather than sell.

I'll have to weight it when I'm back in France, but I suppose it's somewhere between 7.5 and 8 kilos (ceramic rims, Brooks saddle and Scott bars are heavy). I left it there when I returned to Amsterdam last September because using it during the Dutch autumn and winter would be a waste. The frame and fork have indeed proven to me that if both ride quality and build quality are to such high standards (thank you thank you thank you Tom Kellogg) and so suitable to a riding style that is not aimed a high speeds but at comfort and high milage, a frameset is a friend for life, accompanying me from one rendition to the next when a paintjob is too scratched or simply gets boring.

Since I like the geometry so much, I ordered a steel gravel bike frameset which is an exact copy of the Extralight (only differences are a 143mm headtube instead of 158mm to compensate for the 390mm fork stead of the 375mm road fork and a 1cm shorter top tube to compensate for the longer chainstays). Already planning to give that bike a paintjob that matches my Merlin.

Anyone seen the Proteus that just finished on eBay?: eBay Clicky Link - I didn't know this existed. Stunning detail with the Ti bands around the carbon tubing.

Reminds me of the Cielo and Luminus - I'd *love* to own either of those, but they're rare as hen's teeth.

Bumping this gallery thread to share a sweet Merlin from today's ride. That's Tom Kellogg's name there on the chainstay.

Hanged a new group on the bike. I have a longer (black) stem on the way, and a new set of decals I need to find the time to apply.

(I should also reclear the fork. I wonder how horrible the result would be if I'd DIY it).

Replaced the fork (but kept it period-correct)
