    So happy to see this thread -) Here's a terrible pic of my very own wet pasta machine or the Alan SR, ca 1984. I bought the frame as a skinny college student built with sturdy Shimano 7sp parts, then let it languish once I weighed over 160lbs. I'd shift 2 cogs just standing up. Ah well. Here it is resplendent in late 80s/early 90s glory - Record Deltas and levers, Croce derailleurs, Chorus 52/42, Mavic 501 hubs laced to Open4 CDs, and Simplex retrofriction shifters. Enjoy!

    Here's my entry in the I'm Lucky I Don't Have Much Power Because I Sure Do Love Bonded Aluminum sweepstakes. This 979 is a bit short in the toptube for me, hence the super long stem, but otherwise I think it's perfect. Shimano 600 drivetrain with a Romin saddle, Modolo bars and Ambrosio rims, it's almost as nice to look at now as it is to ride. I am pretty sure I will ride this bike until the epoxy gives, and even then I will be tempted to super glue it back together again.

    Oh yeah, Hi guys thanks for having me

    [QUOTE=dubrat;402774]Hey Lads

    Thought I would post this and see if anyone has seen one before or got any info on them...

    It's a Stronglight Altec Aluminium

    Pulled this one down and found some blue under the white paint...

    I am going to build it up as a all French weight weenie and hopefully get under the 8kg mark with period parts

    A friend of mine had a customer come in to his shop with one of these last week. It was not in great condition, the handlebar stem was jammed fairly badly and the top tube not particularly straight (not to mention a ridiculously dangerous DIY job had been done bolting handlebars to the stem). In the process of trying to un-jam the stem, the top tube came away from the lug at the head tube.

    I'll try to get some pictures, but realistically how fixable is this bike likely to be? Is there really any point in fixing it consider it must be at least 25 years old now?

    These are almost free now:

    Yes, I bought it entirely because of the 1991-tastic colors, all I did was take off the PO's gel saddle and swap pedals. Bonus: still appears to be solidly glued together at the BB.

    Gorgeous! I love it. Jealous, I'll have to keep my eyes out for one, or save up for a custom with a similar paint scheme.

    Hopefully you find one with adult sized bars. This has a 36cm c-c Specialized on it. NOT what I'm used to.

    Alan for VS.jpg
    I'm the original owner of this Alan Sprint. I purchased it new in '84, but it's markings suggest it was manufactured in '82, so I guess it took a while to get from Italy to the little LBS in my original home town of Scotch Plains, NJ. It was my first high-performance bike. I still love it and ride it all the time in Portland. I've simplified the drivetrain down to fixie mode, which is how it's been for about 7 years.

    Here's a photo of something I've been working on. It's a Circa Trillium, which I build in Portland, Oregon. It's a bonded construction, so I thought this group might be interested. Our goal is to build affordable bikes, to order, quickly.

    I'd love to know what you folks think of it. Ask me anything!

    As a followup on my post about the Circa Trilliums, here's a link to our crowdfunding campaign, with videos, bikes, frames, etc. https://www.crowdsupply.com/circa-cy...-manufacturing

    Immaculate. And, beautifully shot, too.
