after a wet/sandy race. little ring, cuz my legs said that was the only way they'd get me back to the car.

I actually converted it to 1X a few days later.

    Thanks Dave!

It's an SSR comprised of Columbus XCR Stainless.

Oh yeah they rock, I also have an SSR now, but I suppose I wasn’t specific. I have the Rapha cross bike and always wanted the road version as well. I have a nutty obsession with IF.

I even have the saddle for it it when I find one. Yep...nutty.

Prepping for winter duty. Giving the Schwalbe G-One 30mm tubeless a go, just need some wider mudguards now.

Anyone happen to remember what year this was a showbike/catalogue bike for? It was gifted by Brian Kelly when the New Market move happened.

The bike is long-gone but I've still got the coffee mug which was painted to match

That caffeine racer of yours was one of my favorite bikes for quite a while, Tristan. Hope the replacement is treating you well.

Yeah that bike was super fun. Gary has just taken over IF and no one wanted to put any work into disc brakes on a road bike because they'll never catch on (!!) so I was left doing things the hard way. I put a LOT of time and effort into that machine! I don't really have a replacement for it and it was the last dedicated fender bike I owned. The closest I've got at the moment is my Open which has taken over commuter duties and is better in every measurable way but just doesn't stir the loins in the same way.

28 spoke was the lowest count I could get for hubs. Velocity A23s were the only rim available wider than about 17mm (gawd those rims had some terrible QC issues - we were sending about half back because the joints were so bad), I custom polished the DT Swiss 240s and fitted a Campagnolo freehub. Center lock rotors didn't exist in 140mm so I had to use adapters. Avid BB7 was the only disc brake which worked with road levers. Thru-axles were some newfangled mountain bike invention.
