This statue survived an atomic bomb- I have been drawn to this temple in the city since 1985 when I used to skatebaord the UWS. In 1988 I spent a few mornings and afternoons learning to chant....enlightment was not for me at the time.
Regardless, I am drawn to the atomic buddha.

    Grandma bike is on watch:
Got passed by some 20-something-blond-fixie girl on river road- "Mister, you are killing it on that mountain bike...."

I've always wanted to visit that statue with a geiger counter.

Ironic that it is only a few blocks away from Pupin Hall at Columbia University where the cyclotron was. That cyclotron was used in early experiments into uranium that led to the discovery that U235 was the isotope of uranium that released energy during fission. And building on that discovery, the scientists in the Manhattan Project used "enriched" uranium, which is uranium with a high concentration of U235, in Little Boy, the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima by the Enola Gay. Hiroshima is where this statue is from.

This was supposed to be a winter project but............I couldn't wait to get it going. I have never had a Ti bike but always wanted one. I've always appreciated the work Indy Fab has put out so when this was up for sale (Thanks Hank Scorpio) I grabbed it.

This is a race bike, not the coffee shop dentist bike you picture when some one mentions Ti. Still shaking her down but after some more rides and I cut the steerer I will try to describe my impressions compared to the other bikes I have owned (Spooky's, Rock Lobster, Primus, Sizemore, Caad 10, etc.). Really nice so far!

Nothing to see here...just another defective bike with a ~58cm top tube and a short head tube. Oh the sacrifices I make.

Grandma has been running me ragged- beckoning the pace higher, ringing the bell when passing and being passed and delivering super speeds up to nyack and back.

Since the 25th- just over 200 miles. This bike rocks for base miles.

    let's keep the Ti going...

Ti planet cross w/10speed force and king r45's laced to belgiums. this is basically "winter road mode" and was taken during the ongoing festive 500 challenge.

    Back to steel.

I finished building it up for my wife just before Christmas. The frame had been squished in shipping, so my son and I took it over to Tom Palermo's house. He straightened it out perfectly, educating my son on all of the tools and toys in his garage along the way. When we parted, it was with promises to get together for a ride. We're not going to get that ride, but I'll remember him as one of the good guys.

Starting to refine the ride down:
Switched grips to ESI from Ergon style grips.
Flipped stem negative and switched out the bars to wider Race face carbon... Longer-lower which I hope works.

It's been a cold and snowy winter here in New Hampshire, so I thought a few pics of winter bikes was appropriate:

This is a Chubby D-Lux that we built up for Dylan McNicholas to race in the Polartec Fat Bike Series. Dylan races CX for Polartec on 4 IF Corvids, and this is his first fat bike (he placed 2nd in his first race at Gunstock which was the first time he rode the bike!). 45 North helped out with a few of their newest bits. Running a 5" tire up front and a 4.5 in the rear to help with float in all of the deep snow.

This one is a 29+ built up by our own Phil. He calls her Rosie and has been flogging it non-stop since she was completed a few weeks ago. We went out last night on the hard packed snow-mobile trails and she's fast. More on her here.
