good call. execution by parlee, imagination by steve and douglas.
just a couple of customer's bikes...
this one is my current favorite:
i think that i can say without fear of contradiction that i love the hell out of that beige bike. heck, i love all beige bikes.
Absolutely love their frames, they even use Columbus Max sometimes!
Can you weigh in on the butted ti frames? How light are they coming in for a medium-ish frame?
Will work on getting a better pic of the blinkie mounts in a couple of days.
Re the tubing and weight: I wanted Ti for dent resistance and lightness, and, well, just because I like Ti. I probably would have gone double butted, but the price of this bike was already getting astronomical (for me at least), and I needed to draw the line somewhere. HamCo assured me that the ride qualities that I wanted (springy long-distance comfort) could be achieved with straight gauge just as with double butted.
I can't remember the projected weight savings by going butted, but it wasn't worth it to me given I was already at the upper limits of what I could spend. I'm sure any builder who does Ti could answer that question though.
Overall, I was going for a weight conscious build (at least compared to my other bikes, which isn't saying too much), but not a weight weenie build, so a few ounces here and there wasn't a big deal. this explains parts like the relatively heavy bars and pedals.
I am 100% feeling this one:
After the snow and slush clears I'll finally get a decent snapshot of my beloved Hampsten Z2 custom up here...
Fireplace shot for the winter ... Steve and Parlee delivered a winner
Nice cinghiale on the top tube!
Yep, I love the Hampsten piggy! I got lots of looks on this bike in the Dolomites (though it is a crime the Hampsten did not carry me on my one and only ride over the Gavia/Mortirolo). Once we moved back to the states I decided not to travel with a carbon bike that now costs 3x what I paid for it. It still holds my Ventoux and Maratona dles Dolomites records, though ...
Strada Bianca by Moots w/YBB (why be beat?) rear end and Alpha Q. cross fork. Paul Cantis, 9 spd Campy, 50-34 Ritchey crank.
I posted this before but I'll put it here for prosperity.

"SHUT UP LEGS"
Ok, took me a hair longer than I anticipated, and we're at build 1.0 for shakedown with lots of tuning to do and a few parts yet to come, but here's my new titanium GP from the Hampco Towers. Only had a short ride on it tonight, but extremely smooth, and very solid yet turns well. Eager to get a real ride in some hillier stuff (for Wisconsin:)) later this week!
note: photos now appear several posts belowCheck out the immaculate welds and cool brake bridge! Artistry at it's best.
I have a Fizik Cyrano carbon post coming, as well as white Campy hoods. Cages will be King ti, and I'm thinking about a gold Woodman seatpost clamp -- what think ye?
Also, wheels. Don't think the white Kinlin 270s w/CXRays on silver WI hubs are going to make it on this frame as much as I love the ride w/Open Pave CGs. Just got back from Trekworld this aft, and the new Aeolus ltubulars look like they might be just the ticket for a traditional looking build in the Aeolus 3 or 5 models. Very sweet wheels with the wide profile so my Hed C2s (laced but not tensioned/trued yet in my basement) will swap with no pad adjustments.
Steve & co are highly recommended!
PS. For those sharp of eye a rain shower just blew through and a few drips coming off the tree where I was shooting, but, hey -- it's titanium! :)
