Just for the halibut, I tried mounting some Clement MXP cross tires on my Strada Bianca. The setup looks boss, but it isn't meant to be.

Labeled 33 mm, the tires plump out to 36 on Velocity A23 rims. They just barely fit, but not really. The clearances are too tight to ride. While the tire fits under the fork crown, it just barely passes between the sloped crown shoulders and fork blades. And forget about the chainstays. There's only about 1 or 2 mm clearance on either side. I rode it down the block just to see what it felt like, but quickly returned when I heard the side knobs buzzing on the chainstays (perhaps due to a slightly untrue wheel).

I guess I'll just have to get a real cross frame. Twist my arm.

Hey gang.. Just received some pics and great news that my frame is back from paint. It's stunning!!!
When Steve and I were discussing paint I sent him some ideas and we decided on doing a hot rod thing with some racing stripes.
I sent some photos using the color scheme we decided upon. He came up with a little different take on the usual Hampsten stripe layout.
He rocked it.. Should be shipping some time next week. See attached pics:

Dirty pic from the shed... Almost there.
Thought I'd take a shortcut by re-using the cables, but they're a hair short on the level TT frame. Especially the rear brake.

Handbuilts with Grand Bois Cypres 32mm not in the pic but stand by for action.

I knew the first reply would be about the scary axe.
Don't worry, it's a friendly one... only used for firewood.

For know I'm going to use the Dura Ace 7800 10 speed setup I have from my previous race bike. FSA SLK carbon crankset. I have 2 sets of wheels: Fulcrum Racing 3 for the 27mm Challenge PRs and a set of Reynolds Carbon Clinchers 46/66 for fast rides with Conti GP 4000. Going to get a pair of wheels for gravel and the rough stuff once I finish the build. Fizik Alliante saddle, LOOK pedals. The usual stuff.

I recently sold about 25 bars... Those in the pic are my best leftovers (mostly Cinelli) from a couple of years of classic bike hoarding.

Thanks!! You're too kind. I really wanted a classic style geometry for this bike... can't wait to ride it.
