+1. The pictures are stunning and inspire me to take a tour. How did the bike do? What sorts of loads--in terms of weight--were you carrying; were you camping or moving from motel to motel?

thanks very much. they bike did great, really good, thats my third long trip, once I went from Barcelona to Tirana, with a old MTB, nightmare, front far to low, arm and shoulder pain all way long. another tour in Spain with a cross bike, like pudding too short wheel base, load to high, very difficult to stand on bike, the whole thing was moving too much. this Firefly is my first real
touring bike, very solid, no moving and wobbling around, straight forward! also pedalling out of the saddle without any problem, bike still stable. the total weight bike and bags has been 27kg, I moved from hostal to hostal, what was not easy sometimes, in Extremadura and Castilla la Mancha the villages I passed have been so small that it was even difficult to get food, also there I was carrying always 2L extra water bottle on the panniers. you ride there for hours and hours and hours, without seeing a single human being or a car... having a mechanical problem there would be the real adventure.... there is just nothing... ;))

Stefan hope you enjoyed your tour and also your time in Santiago. Did you shoot medium format? Curious about the square aspect ratio which works really well for this set.

hello Hollis, that would be really consequent, from the photographer point of view, travel with the hasselblad and a zeiss lens, heavy, but great quality results for BIG prints. ;() the pictures are all done with the iphone 5, what has a pretty good quality for being a phone camera. also I carried a Panasonic LX5 with me, thats the camera I use normally for my on the bike shots. thanks, best Stefan

P.S. in Santiago I have been only two days, we went to Abastos 2.0 and a little outside to a great "pulperia". another two days we have been in Malpica.

for all others, here a place to visit when your ever in Santiago.

Stefan, that looks like a helluva trip, and to do it in style on that bike only ups the ante even further. I'm jealous on both counts!

one more last picture ;() and a big thanks to Kevin from Firefly, who always is so fast and very helpful! the last days many friends asked me about how the bike behaved loaded. thats when Kevin comes into my mind, he did the geometry, main question: not too much moving with the panniers?. no, no moving at all, straight forward! thanks to Kevin.

That's awesome. Did you get a second campy 80th group, or is that off the zank?

    that looks great! nice bike.

a suggestion, if you want "cleaner" pictures you can place the bike in front of a neutral wall, thats it. ;)

Green with envy! Two great bikes. Make me want to ditch my quarter-ton steel tourer and have a to one made.

That's awesome, StR. Clearly you ride that thing. I would freak out if my bike was that dirty, but I wish I could be more like you. Must have been a fun ride!

Matthew, ;)) love it, I have around 20km of off road I visit regular, summer or winter, males no difference, just to get out of the tarmac routine, change the routine feels good.
