    Default Corsa Extra

My Corsa Extra, not quite finished at time of photo. Currently for sale in classifieds. (Just have too many bikes right now, and I only rode this one on sunny Sundays.)

Thanks for that link, I just watched it.

I love sneak peeks of bikes before they are all jazzed up.

Interested in any info anyone might have on TT Eddy here.

Bought frameset from guy in Netherlands. Probably '85 or so. V large - has number hanger. I fitted early'90's C Record parts, 180mm crankset, late model Deltas and Modolo levers. Zero setback and forward saddle are just so that i can ride it.

Geometry charts on those are all Eddy. S'posed to be made where they make the Pinarellos. I'd hit it.

Ah..eee that's what tis. I think there's still certain resemblance to certain early monocoque frames/Look etc:

Eddy just got his period-correct brake levers. He is happy, I am happy.

I've had this MX Leader sitting in my storage area for some time now and have slowly been accumulating parts to build it out. Got the final pieces of the build kit (wheels) from a forumite (thanks taz) a couple months back and the "what's sitting unbuilt in your stash-house" thread provided me the final bit of motivation needed to get it built up. I braved the 28 degree temps today to get it out for a 30 mile shakedown ride and I am happy with it. The frame is probably a centimeter big for me, but I am able to get the contact points where I need them and the bike rides fine as you see it.
This bike is perfect for the road conditions here in southwestern Belgium, smooth and controlled over the broken pavement. More comfortable than my tig'd Co-Motion (made from 853) but much stiffer through the bottom bracket. Although not as "cush" as my Moots-built Hampsten, the MXL reminds me of a big Mercedes or BMW when cruising along, happy to gobble up the miles with a minimum of fuss, muted but not disconnected from the road. This bike, as built with the Mavic Classics wheels, may be the perfect bike for piling on the base miles.
Bike is built out with 9-speed Ultegra derailleurs and brakes, 9-speed Dura Ace crank and downtube shifters (running friction for now). It is the first time I've ridden a bike with downtube shifters since the 80s (went this route to save $$) and its a change of pace. Although I have only ridden it once, I can already tell that I'll be shifting less.
The frame/fork were delivered to me in near perfect condition (thanks Profkrispy) and I love the unique paint (last pic shows the gold pinstriping around the eddy merckx logo on the downtube). It's definitely a head turner and one that I look forward to riding more as the weather warms up.

Nice job. Belgium - South Africa - California - Belgium. Quite the world tour and it looks happy to be home.

At the Cima Coppi on Stelvio Day--I took my Merckx on the 2010 Cinghiale Cycling Tours Dolomiti Epic but plan on taking my newly acquired Hampsten Ti Travelissimo on the next tour!
