Went ahead and ordered the Merckx book anyway. My brother will kill me for ordering it from Amazon. But it's looking like it's going to be a long winter. I'm going to need a lot of reading material.

While the weather's 'good' (relatively speaking - it is November), I'll keep getting out. Good time of year for enjoying the ride of this one.

Winter time fussing around. Think I got the finishing touch on MXL - a silver Nitto seatpost. Gives it the elegance it deserves.

Well, that blue frame right above went to a new home and this white one came back. This one is a 60cm, 1cm smaller than the blue one. There was a small $ incentive to initiate the swap, as I wasn't really looking to get rid of that frame at the moment. We'll just leave it at that, but it was appreciated.

Still working out some bugs on this one, mostly just aesthetics and the like. Swapped over components with exception of bottle cages, saddle and crank. May go back to the white Prologo Scratch saddle. Wheels are springtime set with old school Paves.

The alloy post is better too I think. Just works better aesthetically. Not function obviously.

Looks like you are trying to manage a bit steeper saddle to bar drop. Ti-Cycles stem?

Yes, Ti Cycles ti stem for 31.8 bars.

By alloy, you mean the silver Nitto post? With black saddle, not sure. May actually try an Eriksen ti sweetpost.

Bar drop? Yeah, maybe a bit more drop this year. Shorter reach, more drop seems to work. I notice more speed when I get in the drops. Don't know if it's real or imagined, but something's noticeable. (Yeah, right, I get in the drops on the downhills... maybe that has something to do with it.)

Yep, the silver Nitto post, but an Eriksen would be even better!

    Enjoying this MXL a lot.

(Looking at this thread, I start to wonder if I'm the only one out there still riding a Merckx...)

    hello from Jakarta

my first post here. Last week finished my Corsa Extra Max build - neo-retro with new 105. Definitely not the proper EM from purist or campag fan perspective. Though, I already imagine my ultimate build will be with campag 11/12 speed, of course when I can afford them :).

Really satisfied with the neo-retro setup, and the Columbus Max really feels great (this is purely subjective).

anyone know how to make the pic smaller? just realized its really big after I posted the post

That looks great! Parts don't matter if you are having fun.

Really smart build and looks great. Always be wary of the racer with a solid frame, mid-range parts and light wheels...
