    Ha!

Normally I would (as most here already know), but black bar tape on this colourscheme looks *awful*!

The previous iteration of Selle Italia saddles are the pinnacle of their designs, the new ones are ..... well ......pants!

I had a Flite Evo at one point but it was blue and never went with any bike i had.....

Yours looks good, wether the comfort works is another matter.....

Compared to the Fizik K:1 on my Cazzo (perfectly comfortable for 200km) this Flite Evo2 is like an armchair.

My arse likes carbon saddles more than most normal ones, oddly enough.

Ankle sprain recovery + a wet & windy Sydney = boredom induced bike fettling. That Rolls was playing on my mind so I tried this just now:

Still think the Flite Evo2 looks better, although the Rolls is more acceptable than I first thought (needs a bit more use and/or fresh bar tape to make it stand out less).

Time to get this ankle back on ice - I need to recover quickly so that I can reduce my spare thinking time...

Ask your ass. I wouldn't choose a saddle based on the aesthetics.

The only reason it's come down to aesthetics is because my arse is happy on either.

You will probably hate me but the original flite has been made in white, white with red or blue kevlar reinforcement on the side and even in three colours (blue/red/white).

And there is one NOS example of the three coloured one on ebay right now:

I had a white Flite but stupidly sold it.

    I'm already 'watching' the tri-colour one... ;)

It was bugging me too much, and I had to check for myself - I *knew* I'd seen a Motorola Merckx with that ^^ saddle on it...

Took me a while, but I found it:

That saved me a few bucks.

...I would vote for white tape and black Rolls-Ti (with the Ti plaque to match the stem). A black saddle will be more consistent with the original Team Motorola livery which was always black saddle (mostly Cinelli & Avocet saddles) and white tape.EM3

I've just taken ownership of a massive pile of Cycling weakly magazines from 93/94 and there are tons of pictures of motorola merckx pro bikes - almost all have the
combo of white tape and black saddle.
Best pic is of Sean Yates muscling his way to 8th place in a dusty Paris-Roubaix on a team merckx - i'll try and upload a pic.
Riders looked so much cooler without helmets (oops controversial)

True enough, but if I were aiming for the full Motorola look I would have run Shimano...

Nah, you just gotta add red/white/blue candy cane striped bar tape to tie it all together.

I have wanted a Merckx in Motorola colors for a LONG time. I finally found one on ebay a few months ago. As you can see, it isn't totally period correct because I really don't like the shape of the 7410 STI's. I'm happy with it for the most part. Need to find some silver Cinelli bar plugs. Other than that, it'll stay like this for a while. Think this one is from 1991 from the s/n.

    Stem and bars swapped:

The bars (Cinelli 64s) definitely look better, but they might nudge the already-realistically-a-bit-long-for-me reach into the "definitely too long" category. About to take it for a spin so we'll see...

Got sent the wrong colour Cinelli Alter stem, but it doesn't look too out of place - just not entirely sure if I like it enough for it to stay. There's a vague temptation to strip is down and polish it, but I'm not sure I've got the patience.

That said, without the removable faceplate I'm not sure I've got the patience to put the Grammo back on either!

One thing I am tempted to do is to get the fork steerer threaded and change the headset. I reckon a quill stem would finish it perfectly.

This is about to sell on our local version of ebay. I enjoyed owning and riding it but the threaded steerer and horizontal dropouts cracked me. I'm too newschool I guess.

Hmmm. Cinelli 64 bars definitely make the reach too long (and they're not exactly 'long reach' bars). If I force myself to be honest, the bike is too long anyway - worse than that, I sort of knew it would be. Damn my impetuosity...

The one time I actually ask the wife for permission to buy a bike and it bites me on the arse!

...if you want the classic shape bar in a shorter reach, Ritchey just released the Neo-Classic model with a very short reach (73mm). Matched with a 260 or 4-axis stem (both of which have a smaller tube diameter "thin" look,, which looks better on steel bikes), might fit (and look) better. However, that means both stem and bars would be black. EM3
