Absolutely gorgeous bike! Is there a functional aspect to the holy :-) chain stays or just for looks?

You hit it, 73 -73, 55.5 Seat Tube and a 54 Top Tube.

About as utilitarian as a seat lug could be...the D*S panto on the stay starts to tell the story.

Very nice, I like the white and blue. Here's mine: classic black with white panels. Very comfy on a century ride:

Anybody know if there's a date when he switched over from text on the seat stay caps to the 'D star S' ?

A few photos before a pre-shake out ride this morning. I still have to post my story about the bike...let's see if I can get that done tonight. One quick comment...the details and the paint on this frame are as nice as I've seen. Ride report to follow tonight as well.

OK, here's the skinny. I found the DS through a PSA and it almost looked too clean to be true. With the exception of the Nitto bars, post and stem which I installed, the drivetrain and wheels are original. Campag Record 8 speed drivetrain and brakes; Record 32h hubs laced to Mavic Reflex clinchers. I added a set of Michelin Pro4 25's and they just fit the brakes.

The tubing looks to be oversize and the lug work is straight forward and clean. I sent an email to Roland's webmaster to find out more about the build and tube type. The bike is very smooth, solid and stable overall and my only complaint is that I wish I had a little lower gearing than the 13-26 on the rear. You Belgian hardman like Savine and PatJo are telling me to HTFU...I can feel it through the airwaves.

Better road pics next week as I was in a hurry to beat the approaching storm.

Just got this last week. It's beautifully made and rides like a dream. I doubt the lilac will be to everyone's taste -- I don't think Roland liked it all that much -- but I love it.

Nothing wrong with the lilac color; I think it's unique.

The only thing is, at least from the photos, the yellow Della Santa logos are washed out against the lilac background. My eyes "search" for the logo rather than being obvious. I think it helps visually if the logos have a contrasting outline color.

The cool thing I noticed are the World Champion stripes. I know Roland has earned them; it's that the stripes help dress up the bike and add the the right amount of color without going overboard. Too many custom frames look exceptionally bare.

Della Santa frames are definitely a bargain.

I agree that a dark outline would make the decals pop better, though the yellow-lilac contrast is better in person than the eyes show. I also agree that Della Santas are a bargain. This is the second one I've bought. But to say they're a bargain implies that they're good for the money, when I would argue that they're up there with the best frames at any price. This is where I say ATMO, right?
