It'd be interesting to find out how the Protos rides, I've always liked De Rosa, had a couple in the past.
I had a Primato just like INDECS about 20 years ago, same colour and everything (probably even the same size) and a few years later an aluminium Merak like this -

Saw this one somewhere on the internet a while ago and saved the pic - looks pretty good

Paul, buy a Protos and let us know how it rides please..... It certainly looks great. I always liked the King as well.

A buddy of mine has a couple Protos and a King 3 RS. He seems to really like the Protos. His is the first gen with the ISP and is a stellar looking bike. I'd love to give one a shot.

I'd better start saving - those things cost even more than a flippin' Dogma!

That looks awesome. But the graphics/logo treatment could use some work. Why not just a simple center DeRosa logo on black?
    Auk's words to live by:
Blow up and pin a picture of M. Bartoli on your wall. When you achieve that position, stop. Until then, stretch, ride, stretch, ride, eat less, and ride more.

I like the 2013/4 paint job a bit more.

The only issue I see is that the logo is absolutely huge.
On the newer version it looks like they tried to find a way to make
it appear more normal size, but agree it's not a perfect solution.
Things have changed just a bit since Ugo signed the down tube.

BTW the newer campy crank is not as good looking as the older one but fits in pretty well with that bike and is nowhere near ugly.

That De Rosa is hot. Agree about the new paint scheme being ugly and the logo to big on the previous one. But if you can afford a De Rosa, you can afford to make it respray before delivery no ? I would definitely do that.

These chainstays look as bike as the DT on my Parlee!

Interesting that more Shimano seems to be creeping into the DeRosa line,
for a while there, you'd rarely if ever see a model built with anything but
Campagnolo at a DeRosa launch from the factory.

The DA 9070 goes perfectly with that particular frame and colourway itmo... Shape of the shifters, crank lines, everything. Lovely bike!

This recently sold on ebay, for just under $4k.
Doesn't actually seem like a lot for a bike
apparently sitting somewhere in Germany since 1986.
    Ride it? Hang it?

First ride was fun but handling was weird for the first half hour. I guess itís the Shamals, as Iíve never ridden them before or any other high profile rims for that matter. Also the head angle and rake are quite different from what Iíve been riding lately. Very smooth frame though, even with the Shamals. (I wonder what it would ride like with a pair of Neutrons)
I also have a pair of Open Pro Ceramics with 8-speed Record hubs which Iíll be trying next week. Maybe I should do two back-to-back laps with both wheel sets for comparison.

Took it out today on the Open SUP Ceramics... I really prefer this feeling over the Shamals.
Nice 'n responsive steering, riding no handed feels better. Probably because I'm used to Neutrons and low DT rims.
The Primato looks good with the ceramic rims, but the Shamals are quite the eyecatcher and really go well with the rest of the bike... I'll try them a couple more rides.

I think it looks better with those than the Shamals personally.

Not a great photo but I'm rather fond of this bike. Came to me originally with c-record but I replaced it all with super record, which is fitting since according to De Rosa it's an '84/'85.
