I wish it would have been a 51 instead of a 53.
Now with proper crankset. But with improper orange tape on bar. (a "surprise" from new mechanic.)
cary... show the unbuilt responsorium too. i still have a crush on your BLE... that thing is gorgeous in real life.

Here is my Pegoretti history. In 2003, my MXL needed a refurb so I shopped around for a bike that would have similiar riding characteristics and geometry. The Fina Estampa had almost the same geometry with a top tube that just a smidge longer. I rode that bike like it was stolen. Once the Big Leg Emma was introduced, I wanted one. After a few years, the Fina needed a new paint job (I'm in the Navy, I live in coastal cities). I started shopping around for a BLE, but the biggest one I could find in stock anywhere was a 57cm. I needed a 60cm. One day I spotted SoCalSteve's BLE on the forum across the hall and moved on it quickly. Steve was great to work with and I got it within a few days. I moved all the parts over from the Fina and boxed it up. The Fina sat for about a year while I decided what to do with it. I ended up trading it to a friend in San Diego for a 9 speed Record grouppo, a sweet record/ambrosio wheelset, and assorted parts. He plans on getting it painted and I am sure he will ride it until it needs another paintjob.
I fixed the big picture. The BLE shot with the grapes in the background is a few miles west of Monte Casino. The balcony shot of me and Emma is from north of Gaeta, Italy. I rode the BLE on the Apian Way that day.

This was a surprise from my wife this Christmas.....

Please post pic's when you build it. That thing is killer!
Mike
Moran-
Is that a Marcello? And does you're wife have a sister?
Seriously, that is amazing- did she tell you how long ago she ordered it?
Did she tell Dario how she wanted it painted or did he have free reign?
So many questions! Details Man!

Alas, it's not a custom Pegoretti (though it's geometry matches up very, very closely with my IF).
I had found it on-line, in-stock at a bike shop I have visited in Philly a while back and showed it to her. That's where/when she got me. She told me it was ugly and that it would be foolish to get another bike. So I kind of forgot about it.....next thing I know it's X-Mas morning and she is coming down the stairs with a box that looks a lot like a box a frame would be packed in.
Needless to say, it was an awesome surprise! I can't wait to put some parts on it. I'm thinking 3T bars & stem, campy wheels and drivetrain....although I am definitely open to suggestions.
I hope you all had a great Holiday as well!
Keith...it's a Responsorium. Dario came up with the paint scheme himself as it was not a custom order.
I love it though...and I agree with you, I'm thinking white tape and a white Selle Italia saddle!
please shoot some close-ups so we can perv that thing at our own speed.

Catulle's acid trip Peg is an all-time classic.
I love Catulle's Respo, and Moran's may end up on my short list. You must share your build photos with us!
