Super Record brakes haven't arrived yet so I used these Zero G's from the parts bin
as usual the iphone doesn't really do it justice - but it's all I've got when I'm out ridin'

    cheers Lionel,
dunno what it weighs - it feels pretty light for what it is, although, when I get some proper brakes that'll add a bit (having said that the zero G's don't give me anything to complain about really).

    drop is about 14cm

That is something ! I was not asking about the weight. As Dario said somewhere asking for the weight of a steel frame is like asking a lady her age (or something along those lines). Even though I weighted mine

Shiny Boy, I'm in love with your bike. Period.
Look at those tubulars... they match perfectly with the frame. I'm sure it rides just as sweet as it looks! ;-)

Great build, Paul! Will you take that bike with you to Rome in December?
Did you take the cranks and wheels from your respo, or do you have a second set?

I have polished the seatclamp on my Duende XC, because I like it when the headset matches the clamp ( I will post pictures once I am satisfied with the build - waiting for a 46 chainring for a 7950 crank still), it is just a matter of an hour of work.

    Beautiful bike!

    Ciao Martin
Yes the cranks and wheels are the same as before, we won't be bringing bikes to Rome - Nicola and Germana are kindly lending Catherine and me bikes for the ride on Sunday.

Can't wait to see that Duende built up
    See you in Rome
    Cheers

So Paul, how to you like it so far. Also is the paint generating as much comments from riding buddies as mine does ?

I've been on a responsorium for the last few years so it's a similar ride to that - similar but not identical.
There are differences in geometry - longer chainstays, slacker seat angle - (contact points haven't changed though) and the tube diameters have increased a bit.

I've done 4 rides so far but it felt familiar and right from the off,
I'd say it's more rigid than the respo but it also feels super smooth - I've got quite good fitness at the moment and the bike really highlights that - I can't really imagine a better bike than this, Dario and the boys have done a great job

As for the paint, all the guys have seen the respo so the ciavete isn't so much of a shock - I suppose the consensus is similar to that on v'salon, some love it, others prefer something a bit more traditional, but everyone appreciates the craftsmanship

Paul, really lovely MxxxxxO, congratulations. So looking forward to receiving mine. When I ordered the Mxxxxo I was a little concerned that I might be missing out by not going respo, although I couldn't really afford the extra anyway so is something of a mute point, but its interesting nevertheless to hear your initial comparison. I've also been working hard on fitness with the chain gang in my area and wondered whether the MxO would be an appropriate weapon compared to all the superlight carbon stuff on show. Sounds from your initial comparison and report that I needn't be concerned on either level....

Thanks, do you know when yours will arrive?
I'm sure you'll love it, you're definitely not giving away any performance by foregoing the responsorium and certainly not the usual carbon suspects they've got at the bike shop.
