Sitting at my inlaws for my twice yearly visits. I am always excited about a ride or two and this bike is part of the reason. It is old, scratched to shit, and heavy as hell, but is so silky smooth. Bad photo, but you get the idea.

My wife bought the frame for me from a used bike shop in 2003 when we got engaged. I will not sell this bike.

Chorus 9spd with Electron wheels. Nitto bar, Cinelli stem and Campy post. Oh and a SLIGHTLY bent fork thanks to a stupid crash. Not bad enough to not ride it - gotta love heavy steel forks!

Hmmm... limited photos and not much to tell. The parts are just what worked - no slavish dedication to period proper parts, as you can see. The frame is from 89, I believe and it is a 58 x 57cm tt.

I bought the Chorus ergos NOS from a guy here (who has since become a friend) who had them as extras before becoming fully committed to 10 spd. The triple crank is overkill, but it was dirtcheap. It has a Centaur BB and a Veloce FD, I believe.

The Electrons are nice, but pretty beat. A few mismatched spokes and some brake track wear, but they still roll pretty well. I use massive bars (46cm), so the Nitto was a rare find that I love. The Cinelli stem is B quality - it's the real thing, but poor finish etc - oh well. The post is an old Campy steel (not ti) and the saddle is my prized possession. It's a limited series antique brown vintage Regal that has a gorgeous patina. It also has those stupid Magnesium rails that weigh a ton and I would love to replace.

That's about it. I might put a standard double on there someday to turn it back into a big gear machine, as triples and compacts look 'wrong' on vintage Italian rides, in my opinion. In the meantime, it all works like a charm and makes me happy when I get a chance to ride a few times a year on this bike.

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the rails on a magnesium railed Regal and replace them with either standard steel or ti rails? I would love to do this to this saddle. This thing (and Aliantes) fit me like gloves...

If so, does anyone have a totally trashed Regal saddle with good rails that I could buy dirt cheap?

I hated those vigorellis when they came out a few years ago - I thought they looked like snowboards. I've done a complete 180 on them after finally getting to see them in real life. They're one of those bikes that photos don't do adequate justice and look right at home on the track or street.

Several years ago, while on a ride in New Orleans, I met a guy riding a black Cinelli. It was obvious that it was several years old and it was filthy. I asked about the bike. He told me that he bought it as a frame and fork from Gus Betat & Sons in New Orleans and had them build it up. Over the years, things got changed on the bike but it still looked like a classic.

About a year later, I got a call from my favorite bike shop, Bayou Bicycles, telling me that they received a black Cinelli in as a trade. The owner wanted a mountain bike. They asked me if I was interested. Immediately I went down there to find this Cinelli, the same one a saw a year prior. The owner wanted a cheap mountain bike. If someone bought him that mountain bike, they could have the Cinelli. While inspecting the bike, I took a shop rag and cleaned around the bottom bracket. It was obvious it was in great condition, with a few scratches. So, I made the deal.

I had the wheels rebuilt with matching rims. I found a new Cinelli Unicanitor saddle, an old, period correct, Cinelli 1A stem and handlebars. I cleaned it up and went for a ride. It was great. The cheap price, including the fix ups that brought it back to near original just added to it allure.

from that year Columbus is the brand owner.

Yup a 1985 Pogliaghi intercorsa Pista in 55sq... Built with full DA 7600....



And I am def keeping the Cinelli in original paint. front tube badge turned up today and i'm just trying to find some Fiamme Sprint rims to lace to the Campy pre record hubs then it will be done...

hello everybody!

first of all i have to introduce myselve:
i am almost 40 years of age and i live in austria. i am also doing amateur steel frame building with my friends (brazing with lugs)
i read a lot here in the salon in the last months and maybe i will post my selfemade pista bike with lewellyn lugs and columbus zona tubes here soon. last week we had been at the ehbe in germany as exhibitors (selberbruzzler). my friends and i also attended at the l'eroica for two times.
as you can see i am a cycling enthusiast, especially i love the italian style and craftmanship.

but first of all, here is my cinelli estrada:

frame is from 2006
campa boras from 2005 with new decals
3T and cinelli parts from 2006 to 2009
groupset is new from 2012, 11s record and super record
its now sharply below 7kg with framesize XL
