Is that a new frame? It sure looks nice.

The last time I talked with him was four or five years ago, and at that point he was just doing repairs and some painting to keep busy in the winters.

I passed him out riding his light blue fixed gear along the river the other night, and he's still the definition of smooth.

Does he still ride with clips and straps and just a cycling cap? I hope so!

    ah yes...

though what is most exciting is the balance/handling of this well-fitting bike. it's from 1990; chris put in a new brake bridge and re-spaced the dropouts recently. he also repainted it. i don't know if he is building frames from scratch, but i would highly recommend him as a builder.

Rode this today after I swapped the tires.

I live in St. Paul and rode for the first time in a month after a heck of a bike accident.

Luckily, none of the Kvales were harmed!

It's fun to see other Kvales from time to time here in the Twin Cities.

    Here are a few pics.

My second Kvale is nearly identical to ashwa's beauty, except built with 10 speed Chorus.

Ambrosio Excellence rims with silver Record hubs. Pics next time I'm at the cabin.

My third sadly sits here waiting for a new home.

hope you are fully recovered. that greenish bike is a beauty; i like your component choices. also, the white saddle/tape look great with the panel.

i am really impressed with my bike; good to know chris knew what was up wrt bike design in 1990. glad i didn't give up on it, which i almost did after a disappointing transaction with a long-time v-salon member. it worked out and i am happy now, though (but he still never responded to me)...

Clips and straps with penny loafers on the daily commuter ( he only commutes a couple of miles), Clipless pedals on his road bikes though. And yes, just a cycling cap.

    Thanks for the kind words.

I am riding again after five weeks off the bicycles.

....and saving my pennies for a Kvale for my wife.

She's been doing sprint tris the last few years and is starting to wind down from the summer racing schedule.

I haven't raced since the early nineties, but I am doing distance rides at this point.

I'd like to see if Chris would do with a "light" sports tourer for her so she can join our group with a really comfortable bicycle.

Her Felt B2 is not much for long rides in the country.

I put Ruffy Tuffy 28s on, raised the stem a little, and spent three days on the Katy Trail; got back last night...

    It was great...

Your looking at the black brake cable exiting the top tube tunnel. I'm sure the seatstay is a mirror image of the right.

    Yes, that's right.

Rode her about 48 miles today on her new Veloflex Master 23s.

    What a great tire.

Ashwa64, looks like you had a great adventure with your Kvale.

I use Ruffy Tuffys and Challenge PRs on my Hollands.

The Ruffy Tuffy provides a very nice, confidence inspiring ride. IMHO.
