Your new Baum is gorgeous - the geometry looks good too - bar hoods at pretty much the same height as the saddle should make for a comfortable ride.
The pegoretti you had looked somehow awkward but this looks just right.
How are you adjusting to life in Australia? I lived 4 years in NZ (very different to OZ) but couldn't wait to get back to the UK !

The peaks of the hoods may be approaching level with the saddle but there's a 7cm drop from the saddle to the bars!

Life in Oz is so far so good thanks - I'm still not allowed to work yet, which probably sounds wonderful, but it's difficult to justify new wheels on your other half's salary!

Forgot to post this - change of wheels, saddle and bar tape colour:

Saddle will probably get some leather paint applied this week to change the colour to match the frame. Bar tape will be going back to the dark silver initially I think, but I plan to try some purple Handlebra tape too.

I've struggled to get the colouring right on this, and I think visually it needs slightly deeper wheels - I'll probably try my R-SYS SLRs on it this week, but as they really live on my GFs bike these Ambrosios are staying on for now.

If you read, the saddle isn't staying white and the bars aren't staying black...

I'm not at all - aesthetics matter, especially on bikes like this. It's important to me that I get them looking as good as they ride.

    Rich,

The Baum looks better with Ambrosios. Nice bike, nice build.

Is it Balmoral beach in the background? That looks like the Bathers' Pavilion. Love the restaurant there.

    Rich,

The bike looks great! Love the color coded Red. How are you liking the Red group? I am loving mine and am totally sold on it! It's been a couple months now and I'm in.

With Di2 on my 'other Baum' I can hand-on-heart say the front shift of the new Red really IS 'Di2-good'. I really like it.

What I don't understand is why people think it's not right for the bike. It's a modern, oversized steel frame with shaped steel tubes (the top tube isn't round - it's almost a rounded off hexagonal shape) and MASSIVE chain stays - it needs a modern group, and the new SRAM Red fits the bill perfectly!

I'm liking the Ambrosios over the Mad Fibre wheels. Well done on colour matching the purple also.

I'm actually attempting to sell the Ambrosios before the sidewalls get too badly worn - much as I like them I'm really more of a 'modern wheel' man, but at the moment I need to sell before I can afford to buy...

CK R45s (Shimano/SRAM, obviously), selling for $975 ideally.

Matching white saddle and bar tape almost always looks better than just one of the two being white IMO. I also think your Baum looks better with the Nemesis wheels... but a stellar bike nonetheless. :)
