Perspective customer ponders Rich's PM then contacts me... Tells about poor experience of Rich and asks if I agree or have any thoughts.

I say of my own experiences, some customers buy, others choose other products...

    Life goes on...

This has been happening for quite a while. It starts to get annoying. I'm not an official spokesperson for them, but I really enjoy my Baum - I ride it lots, it's my every day bike. I've crashed it, I've lost races on it, I've won races on... Oh wait that should say "won *A* race" hahaha! At the end of the day, it's a bike. I don't need it to define me, it's not something I put up on a pillar. I love bikes. I have quite a few of them... Varying in quality, material and nation of manufacture... All are unique, all have their "quirks" as I will call them... You don't him find me rubbishing manufacturers on the internets.

This is a gallery with far too much talk... More pictures!
Toddy ;) if this is a gallery, why are your pictures gone? wich race around town hall did you win? and why do you take things here personal if your not an official spokesperson for them? all best S.

I take comments here personally because I started the thread and I am sick of all the shit being spoken on here. I won some club races on both road and track. My pictures should be here?

As an impartial observer here but Shit Talker Extraordinaire otherwise (and specially about $10,000 metal frames in the age of nanotech), all the posters in this thread have come across as gents.

Anyhoo, Baums are universally loved. Taking offense at any criticism (deserved or otherwise) is like being an overprotective Curator at the Vatican who overhears an uppity 19-year-old art student and, well, ya know....I mean, who cares, a Michelangelo is a Michelangelo. Keep the picz coming.

I can't recall the last time I was even on a gallery forum thread but somehow saw this. On the bottom of every post on V Salon you'll see an icon with an exclamation point embedded. Anyone who finds a conversation, a post, a remark, or an attitude questionable can click the graphic and report it to the Mods. Otherwise, they may never know about the contretemps atmo.

I've never been a Baum fan, but I'd ride this teal 'cross bike from Above Category in a heartbeat.

I was a Baum fan, but Martini striped frames and other on going stripe paintings made me loose interest.

Looks better with the H+ Son wheels; those Enve's are a bit too deep IMO.

That said, very good looking bike nonetheless.

Baum no longer doing touring bikes...

Before this gets removed for having an opinion...this person said it the best:

I remember lusting after a Baum for years, before the era of the (gaudy, IMO) GTR paint schemes. Sometime after that I fell out of love. I totally understand and respect protecting their brand image and locking down their paint schemes, even trying to encourage a certain caliber of build. But when you get to the point where there is only a choice of 2 stems that they will agree to paint that are in line with their aesthetic...is that too far? Baum's have gotten to the point where they aren't that interesting anymore (at least to me). They all look the same, not because of locked down graphics and immaculate paint, but because every time I see one I feel like I've seen the exact same bike with the exact same build. I would assume that those willing to drop the coin on a Baum, are more than dentists with lots of money, and could interject some unique component pairings like so many of the builds that John features on here (why I love this site). I totally respect the workmanship and quality of what they do, its second to none, and closing the "touring division" doesn't bug me all that much. Its hard to be everything to everyone, and there are lots of builders that focus on particular segments of the market.

lol, makes me chuckle how people with no interest in a bike brand can have such venom towards it.

After forking out **** on a Baum frame I think I will stick some Claris - Veloce on it with some r500 wheels, what would you suggest? If you building top end bikes it only stands to reason there is a small pool of top end components to put on unless splashing out double again for THM, AX-Lightness, and other super expensive boutique offerings. I'd be surprised if you can find many bikes at this level with less than Ultegra or Chorus and with a base model set of wheels.

The paint is part of their branding. Like it or not, it's part of the bike.

No dog in the fight here, and I'm not a mod, so I may be out of line here, but here goes.........the galleries are for photos and maybe a little related, generally positive commentary. This thread has turned negative with a dissatisfied owner getting in a into a pissing match with fans of the brand. Plenty of room for that elsewhere (in and out of the Salon) with the requisite civility. I come to this forum with a bottle of metaphorical Jurgen's in hand for the bike porn. You're spoiling my fun. Let's focus on the photos and have the debate elsewhere.
