Gas Economizers and torch stations.
Have any of you used the Gas Economizers, or made your own torch stations. I have a torch that is very stable on a hanger, but I do not like the idea of leaving a lit torch on one. Gas Economizing is not an issue for me. I do buy the idea that one should mess as little with the torch as possible, not pass it hand to hand, and so forth, from a safety point of view, but I have to put it down now and again with my process.
As far as stations are concerned, I figure that if I had to plum a spot to hold my torch, not fall over, and be movable in the shop (wall not an option), why not make it do a few more things. BF has on in this video. Around 3:50. I hadn't noticed till now it had an economizer as part of it.

Anyone have any BF shop pics of that

I like the gas saver, especially when building racks, which involves a lot of "put torch down, re-position rack, pick torch up, put torch down, re-position rack" etc. etc.

I have bought a second-hand one recently, just trying to figure out where is the best (and most secure) place for it...
Just noticed you can see one on Brent Steelman video:

Re: Gas Economizers and torch stations.
we had the Smith gas saver torches when I was at Trek. They were incredibly handy. They got rid of them after someone caused an explosion that shook the building. I never heard the story about that decision but I'm thinking Bevil Hogg did not approve of explosions next to his office. The downside to the torch versions is that you have to be careful how you put down the torch or the flame goes out. Then again, if you always put your striker back in the same place it doesn't take too long to re-strike the torch.
I have half-heartedly tried to buy one of the smith torches on ebay, but it never works out. I have a used one of the ones pictured above, but I've never hooked it up.
Re: Gas Economizers and torch stations.
Does anyone have a link to where I can pick up a good gas saver? I bought one which was really crap. Impossible to adjust so both gases are shut off at the same time. It looked like the Smith but I assume it was just a cheap copy.

Don't know if it's good or not, but it's made in Switzerland ! ;-)
I guess you could find it in UK, otherwise these guys are selling them for 186 euros.
