just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
never owned or even drove a subaru vehicle..
very impressed with boxer (horizontal) engine and ecology friendly..
a cross vehicle with decent gas mileage..
all wheel drive, not really required in florida, but realize safety features -- efficiency and repair free?
thank you, with a smile from tammy..,

Re: just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
all wheel drive in Florida is just wasting gas
boxer engines have been around for a very long time but nothing particularly special
about the Subaru's. Ecology friendly? Again, compared to what?
btw, I drive one and have owned three in New England, so I'm not bashing just questioning the application. If I didn't drive in the snow often, I wouldn't have one.

Re: just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
I have never considered Subarus to be particularly fuel efficient compared to other vehicles in their class. In fact I think they are generally less so.

Re: just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
I've come close several times to buying one. The beauty is that in Florida you can get a Subaru for only a few bucks over invoice and with other incentives added in they are an even better deal. As Witcomb said there is no need for them in FL.

Re: just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
I put a deposit on one last month. Driving wise it isn't going to impress at all. Slow and pretty loud engine noise. Inside it was reasonable but definitely built for a price.
In the end I decided to keep my mini especially since you can't get a manual with a factory moon roof. The 2014 Forester does look interesting though.

Re: just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
AWD is great in the rain, and last I heard from my mom in Melbourne it still comes down pretty good in Florida. I wouldn't let snow (or lack of) dictate your choice too much.

Re: just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
not impressed with em these days
full time awd just wastes gas and realtime awd (only kicks in when slippin) can be optioned on just about any other vehicle
slow, loud, cheap feeling, bad cockpit, not inexpensive
yeah, i hate my dad's forester ('10)
honda, nissan, volvo more competitive atmo

Re: just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
We have a Toyota Matrix AWD, with close to 100k on it, all problem-free. I've gotten up to 38 mpg. It's a popular car here in Western MA, as are Subarus. The latter are not very fuel efficient, which is a shame, because back when they had a transfer case you had to shift, they were, very. I drive a 2003 Jetta TDI, which does well in all kinds of weather, depending on tire choice, and gets 44- 50 mpg. It has 180K on it, and though the shine has worn off, it's good for another 120 or so. Think RS drives a Subaru...

I agree with this, but I love my '08 Outback. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat (though I'd get leather this time).

I'd love a XC70 or V70, but after having a '05 S60 for a few years, I don't miss the cost of the parts/maintenance. Subarus parts are pretty cheap and the car is simple to work on.

148hp 3000lb. Lotta heft for not much motor.

Re: just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
I have had a 98 Legacy Outback, 06 Imprezza Outback Sport, & now a 2010 Forester. Actually the old 06 and new 10 forester is Laura's. We get 31mpg regularly in the forester. It fits two dogs and all the gear you need for a day in the woods no problem. The AWD works wonders in the snow.
Her forester is a manual, it has plenty of pep for what it is. Also if you are an IMBA member you get $1-2k off, and a $250 donation to IMBA.

I drive an 11 impreza wrx 5 dr. Love the performance and relative practicality. Unless I go more performance oriented, driving anything else may be a disappointment. The non-wrx imprezas were redesigned for 12 and are more fuel efficient. I believe the crosstrek is based on the 12 redesigned impreza. I don't think you'd be disappointed in the crosstrek.

Re: just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
It was time to grow up. I just sold my 2004 WRX Sti. So fun, it was stupid.

Re: just a think'n, subaru xv crosstreck...
I have an 08 outback and will probably buy a new another one within 12 months. Excellent quality and very Eco friendly when you consider with the PZEV engine the emissions are non existent. If you like clean air buy a Subie. Concerning performance it will easily do everything the law allows

That's pure marketing. The P in PZEV stands for PARTIAL (zero emisions vehicle). Kinda like a little pregnent. It meets the same standards as any other car sold.

I had an 02 WRX 5 dr wagon. I've been searching for a car as fun to drive (and within the range of what I'd pay for a car) ever since. My Cooper S is close, but very different, and will be gone soon.
