SanFran Folks: Anyone willing to do me a favor?
The wife and I visited SanFrancisco in October and per our instructions from VSalon we visited Blue Bottle Coffee. Perhaps this was a mistake, as all the coffee I'm having here in D.C. just isn't cutting it. Twinings, Misha's, and everything else isn't as good.
So, here is my request: is anyone willing to get a 2lb bag of the Blue Bottle Espresso and ship it to me? Payment via Pay Pal.

Good stuff. I bring a bag home every time I'm out there for work, a few times a year. It definitely beats the Miami offerings.

I brought some home, but it was a smaller bag. Definitely wasn't enough.

Not sure where in the DC area you are, but I used to go to the Javashack in Arlington pretty regularly when I lived up there. Beat the coffee at the office by a mile. Probably doesn't compare to Blue Bottle, though it's been so long I wouldn't remember. Mmmmm...coffee...

If you go to their website you can subscribe to a coffee shipping plan. You choose the quantity, frequency and roast.
Sounds like your hooked.

Man, I looked around for a website and didn't find one. Heckfire.
edit: wtf was I thinking - using their website to purchase. Disregard my request. Shut this puppy down.

Before we stop, I've got to plug Qualia again - it's on Georgia Ave. in Petworth. I'm pulling shots of his El Salvadorian Cerro Las Ranas roast at the house and it's phenomenal. Joel is a coffee geek on another level.

Purchased, thanks for the heads up.

Ah...I remember their world wide operations as a little cart at the Temescal Farmers' Market a few years ago.

Just now or you've tried it previously?
Also, what's your brew method, and I'll assume you're using a quality burr grinder, proper coarseness, etc., correct?
Re: SanFran Folks: Anyone willing to do me a favor?
Oh, Just now. I went the lazy route and got it online. Should arrive later this week. The internet is an amazing thing.
Currently using a braun grinder. I'm new to this coffee thing, but much like beer, wine, food, I find I like the good stuff. Suggestions for something affordablish?

Dude, it's not that far. Make a weekend trip of it, or I'll meet you up there one day. Ride your bike.
Burr grinders, wow. I love the Hario Skerton for $40 but you say you're lazy and that's a manual grinder. All depends on budget. For $360 the Rancilio Rocky is tough to beat. Check out some of the coffee sites for reviews (Coffee Geek, Whole Latte Love, etc.)

Done, perfect. Not too lazy to turn the handle.

That hand grinder looks cool. May have to get one so we can make coffee when to power goes off for a week.
Re: SanFran Folks: Anyone willing to do me a favor?
I need to try some Blue Bottle. A few friends just came back from San Fran and were flipping out about it.

Yeah... It's odd because everyone around here is freaking out because of the 20 milllllllion dollar VC "sellout" and wondering where to go now.
Having tattoos and living in the mission, obviously I'm not allowed anywhere but ritual.*
*I don't actually like ritual all that much, and never go there.
Re: SanFran Folks: Anyone willing to do me a favor?
I went into Ritual to use the bathroom a couple months back. The whole place was overrun with techies on laptops, it was disturbing. The dude next in line asked what I was "working on". I told him I was working on a hangover.

Sounds like you'd fit in at Zeitgeist. That place was a trip - lots of fun and great beer too.
