Get Your Grump on Thursdays - Was (What's chapping my @ss today?)

You walk into a upscale salad/persian/peruvian/american/whatever restaurant and order the felafel plate for $12. It is a great plate of food, or I would not be there for crying out loud. These are typically self-seating restaurants, some are very nice places. Here is the rub, the cashier asks you if you want a drink. I say "yes, tap water is fine" and am summarily given what amounts to a methadone cup. They have handed me a ridiculously tiny cup to splash water into from the Orange Crush soda/water machine that taints it with nasty soda but WAIT it gets worse folks. I'm a polite fellow, I smile and say "can I please have a large cup, I'm quite thirsty" and most of the time I'm refused summarily or asked to pay the going price for a large soda. Dewd.

What grates your grits pard?

I don't like it when others allow the water to well up around the Formica or porcelain at or near a sink. It's just plain sloppy atmo.

Wet door handles

I just had a client unlatch my front gate on my driveway at 8:00 PM on a Sunday, walk the 200' to my front door, walk in the front door, find me sleeping on the couch after a long day at work, sit down oppisite me on the other couch, wake me by just starting to talk cranked to 11 which makes me jump about a foot into the air & start yelling Fuck! What? Who?

"My bolt-on hub slipped out about 1/8" and I need you to fix it."

I just got up, straightened it in ~ 5seconds and went back to sleep without saying anything.

My wife assures me it happened - I think I did the wrenching equivalent of sleepwalking.

I'm glad I didn't go off.............

At Chipotle when you get the tacos, they put the toppings on in one continuous motion, at a perpendicular angle to the shells rather than taking the extra 3 seconds to do it right.
If I wanted to eat my lunch with a fork, I'd have ordered the salad. Dude.

1. The lack of civility in the public discourse regarding our elected and appointed gov't officials vis á vis today's decision by SCOTUS. That chaps my ass. Civility is never out of style and today I see a total lack of it. TV cable news has thrown fuel on that fire that they mostly started. Politeness and civility are never inappropriate.

2. Uppity people in the DC area. Sorry to the DC locals here, but the other day I was going into a place waiting for my brother. This is a neighborhood café/restaurant/bar which was half full and I asked for a booth for two and that my brother would be arriving in about 3 minutes as he was across the street picking something up. "I can't seat a partial party". Are you effin' kidding me? Partial party? OK. We'll just go to the place across the street and drop our $50 there.

this drives me batshit crazy: i go into a convenience store to buy beer, get a coffee, whatever-and some guy/gal is saddled up to the counter w/their scratch tickets and lottery tickets, exchanging pieces of paper for more pieces of paper, trading in scratch tickets for more scratch tickets, strategically picking which ones they want....and so on, while i wait! there is one woman whom i see regularly, she leans onto the counter and takes up the whole thing, she has an organized bank zipper deposit bag thing, w/all her scratch tickets, lottery tickets, pieces of whatever the f they are, and just takes her sweet time while making small talk. unreal. howbout you just sit there and wait while i have a beer at the counter and talk about the f-ing weather?! this may be legal, but is by no means fair/right and sometimes i just wanna be like-yo, get the fuck out of my way! these folks think they're strategists, all serious w/their game-face on and its infuriating that i should have to sit and wait while someone gambles.

Agree 100%. Born and Raised, went abroad and ended up coming back. Not a pleasant place to live. It can be interesting, but oh so frustrating.

our very own United States Postal Service on valley dr in greenwich, ct. waited half an hour to send something certified with only 4 peeps ahead of me. 3 clerks with no alacrity or dispatch. no surprise that it is functionally bankrupt.

Slow walkers that walk side by side blocking the sidewalk annoy the living shit out of me. At least on the bike path I can yell at "on your LEFT" and storm by in true cat 6 frenzy.

I would expand this to people who just have no idea the impact they have on others and don't. For Example:
In NYC, locals move fluidly and continuously, no two NY'ers ever have to figure out who is passin who on what side, that is all negotiated yards before they get there, bring one out of towner into the mix and suddenly people are spilling into the street, Drivers who keep rolling into the road at a stop sign thereby making sure that no one who coming to that intersection can keep going with confidence, Groups of people who stand on the sidewalk preventing others from walking through, People who double park at the one point in the road where it makes everyone stop, police cars breaking the speed limit or tailgating when there is no emergency, Judges who think there job is to lecture people, waiters who don't know that there job is to make sure people get what they need, cashiers who's conversation about who they got drunk with last night is more important than the customer...... I can go on a long time
