I’ve just read through this whole thread, and enjoyed it immensely (with the exception of the tear I shed over Yellow Dog). The segmented stays reminded me of this:

Exactly. I had a red one, too - that's a Race Lite SL, right? Beautiful bikes, and if you look deep made to be built in sub-assemblies - smart. I think the seatstay sleeves on the bonedraggers were bonded - they welded on the dropout & then let the glue set, or so I have heard.

I had a red lite too, (and a green one) though this picture is somthing I poached online: My pictures are all too fuzzy and muddy. I've often thought that those frames paved the way for many design features we consider standard thesedays: Though you'd have much more insight into that than I ever would. The more things change...
