Recommend to me a gentlemans pocket knife
I work in an office, I am certainly not getting in to a knife fight... so suggest a pocket knife I can carry with me during the week. I already have a spyderco for hiking/heavy use.
But I am looking for something that will be useful and not look threatening if it falls out of my pocket.
The Swiss Army Cadet Alox looks like a good option. Cadet Pocket Knife, Swiss Army, Swiss Army Cadet Pocket Knife
What do y'all suggest?

I suggest going for something like the swiss army for no reason other than this...

Most knives look like weapons to those who aren't into knives. A little red or stainless folder doesn't generate the same response as a "tactical" looking knife.

An Opinel. I like a #6 for walking into the office. And only $15, so you won't cry if it gets lost, confiscated, etc.
Re: Recommend to me a gentlemans pocket knife
It can be hard ti find a "Gentleman's Pocketknife" thee days..as even little knives have been 'weaponized' it seems, and I will guess that you don't even want what would be considered a real working pocketknife, but more something like this pre-WWII Bruckmann. I have a couple little knives like this that I got from my old man's stuff after he passed away. Try looking at the Moki stuff at; http://www.moki.co.jp/usa/usa.htm
They make some small knives but they are all in the more current style, I believe.

Was going to say the same, can't beat the #6. But $15?? Try about $8. Super cheap but super good.
I feel the #8 that most people recommend is just a bit larger then needed.

Spyderco Delica Police. Small, shiny (full stainless), nonthreatening, good quality. It's the knife I take to weddings, and whenever I'm wearing a suit.

i posted this elsewhere here, i just picked this up. it's a limited edition boker, beautifully made in germany. i've always carried a small pocket knife, and i find myself using the screwdriver/lid opener very very often. this knife ticked all the right boxes for me, and is a beautiful daily carry item.

any reason you take a knife to weddings?
Re: Recommend to me a gentlemans pocket knife
Won't these tear holes in your pockets? They seem to be on the largish size to me.

Especially if you're wearing a wedding suit.

WH Spearpoint. The right weight for dress pants, but no so diminutive as to be impractical.

I carry this Buck in rosewood
Attachment 58512
It slips into a watch pocket and I have somehow passed it unnoticed through airport security at least twice. Buck has twice replaced knives that broke (onc I was using as a prybar and once the lock mech failed) earning my business for life.
Re: Recommend to me a gentlemans pocket knife
Jgorman made a good call. That is the same knife my day gave me many yrs. ago.
However...time marches on and of all the 8(?) pocket knives I've got the Benchmade with the axis lock is the best and most pocketed. It's light, sharpens easily and the mechanism is the nuts. I doubt you can still get them but this is what I carry:
Benchmade Osborne AXIS Silver Handle G10 D2 960-SLV
Re: Recommend to me a gentlemans pocket knife
Thanks for all the recommendations.
I think I am going with the Swiss Army, for now. As Matt S. said, it doesn't look tactical so it is probably best.
Hell it's cheap enough if it doesn't work out I'll throw it in my glove box. Then I'll pick up that sweet sword.
