Around here, it's the climb to Black Moshannon State Park. The best bike route up there goes up a road named Rattlesnake Pike. Just sounds threatening, doesn't it?

Lincoln is of course silly steep with shitty road surface. The dirt sections in a downpour are, uh, "exciting."

Middlebury west-to-east is demoralizing. It's about 13 miles to the summit, and the rise only slacks twice.

I've been flirting with running the idea past people of a stupid climbing weekend for any interested with Casa Snowbound de BBQ as headquarters this summer. Perhaps a couple weeks pre-d2r2?

I cut my cycling teeth here. Steep learning curve. There is a steeper climb on the other volcano, but I can't seem to track the road through the trees. Worst part about this climb is the 20% section is completely covered in trees. The road is always damp/mossy. I miss it sometimes.

That was me. Portland was a stop on the way to Seattle. Glad I didn't have to climb Marin in my 76" gear though from the looks of it!

The last pumpkin I "carved" I shot at 7 yards with a 10 ga. shotgun, put a candle in it and called it good.

Yeah, the 'ville has seen better days - when I was a kid, that town was hopping with tourists - hard to believe seeing it now. I don't know Mike from Bike Depot personally, but I do stop in there several times a season. Its a great shop & nice folks there.

I'm looking forward to breaking out the new Kirk all-rounder on the roads up there. Catskills + Gunks = Catgunk rides.

The highest climb in my immediate area (i.e. w/in 30 min) is Schienerberg, which is about 2300 feet of perfect switchbacks.

Within two hours, we have a lot of alps. It is a great place to ride.

This is closeby. There is steeper stuff around, but this one is a nice ride. You climb up from a pretty busy neighborhood up into the rainforest. It is a loop, so you can choose at the bottom which side you want to climb. Great views along the way in a couple of spots.

this is a great race course: http://presteza.com/MTGProfile.html Mt Graham, Safford, AZ. the biggest here in Flagstaff, Paved: Snowbowl road, 7mi x 2400ft. of climbing. dirt, ummmm - Mt Elden, 3.5mi. x 2000 ft, waterline road, 14mi, 3,800ft of climbing, 1st 4 of which are singletrack. pure singletrack, Mormon Mtn, Mormon Lake, AZ, 1500ft in 3mi, Sedona to the rim, old mund's trail, 3500ft in 8mi. or so. my longest climbs: Antofagasta, Chile to Bolivia, a week. that and i rode Bolivia's "world's most dangerous road" that was a real trip! - Garro.

Perhaps, however Mauna Loa has no road. Mauna Kea would be brutal, though, as I understand that there are 20%+ pitches above 10,000 ft. on dirt road.

Ring up one of your most navigationally misdirected buddies from Deerfield. Push out the front door with potentially inadequate clothing, water, food, etc. Start riding. You will find the worst climb, guaranteed.
