Having used a multitude of power meters over the years on many forms of bikes, I'm back to Quarq. Done.
Simple, it works, if it doesn't, it gets taken care of. If y
Pick up one of the closeout units and go.

My experience with Stages was not good.
    I had a Gen 2 Dura-Ace 9000.
Power fluctuates a bunch (even when keeping steady), unit it prone to dropouts.
I would stock to a proven crank based powermeter.
Pretty hard to beat a used SRM, though a Quarq or Power2max is not a bad option.

If money is not option, then SRM. If it matters then Quarq. All my Quarqs were fine and I passed them on to others for continued use. I only went away when I went to Di2 and 11spd. Would have bought another one if they had the Shimano spider at that time.

Does anyone have some basic reading on analyzing your power data?

Ended up grabbing the stages, and its pretty cool having the ability to see this stuff. My numbers seem better than I would have expected (I think) so it is good to get my bearings at the end of season, so I know where I am at the beginning of next. Unfortunately that means I need to do some more "formal" intervals right now, which I am lacking the motivation for now. Also shows me that my real task may be more weight loss than anything.

    This is the classic:

Amazon.com: Buying Choices: Training and Racing with a Power Meter, 2nd Ed.

    What software are you using?

Anyone here using Powertap C1 Chainrings? They really have my attention and they come in 50/36. The perfect combo.

I bought a C1, as I have a Madone, so I needed to get something chain ring based, as a Stages was out. I think for the money it is a decent PM, syncs and calibrates quickly with my Garmin 520, consistent numbers (few wonky days), and cheap. My biggest concern is that it gets weird when exposed to any kind of rain or moisture. Battery dies quickly and numbers gert weird. They did send me a new batch of gaskets and such, but I have had it on the trainer for the last month, so I don't know that this fixed anything. Gaskets appear to be the same, so I don't know what to expect. I think Android support is lacking, so I always have to bum an iPhone for updates.
