    Default Tulsa Tough

The 2010 edition of the Tulsa Tough is 2/3 done, with the Friday and Saturday pro men's crits won by Brad Huff (again). Last year he won Friday and Saturday, then hung in on the Sunday race for the overall. It's looking like a repeat if he stays upright. The Sunday crit has a nasty hill after the first turn, so it's not really his deal.
Friday night Amanda Miller won the pro women's race, and Jen Purcell got 2nd. I mentioned Jen because she's racing the same Crumpton she had last year and she's very attached to it. The Saturday women's results aren't up yet, and I didn't catch the finish.

We're really proud of this race and how fast it's grown. It's a huge block party atmosphere in downtown Tulsa, which is enjoying a revitalization in the last few years. Believe it or not, we made #37 on Bicycling magazine's most bicycle friendly cities this year. Not bad for a bunch of redneck Okies:)

Also, the races are being televised this year, and will be up on YouTube when the cable company gets the dvds done.

This years fields are STRONG! The heat is draining on everyone. Day 3 today. What goes up must come down, right? Right?

Thankfully for Sunday the winds are from the NE so the heat has been cut back considerably. Eric thanks for posting this - why don't you post some pics of that bike your riding?

I should have thought to post it earlier, but I didn't. I'll try to post some propaganda early next year, and I am gonna try to have some hospitality set up, too. I have a good location, a tent and some refreshments would have made it better.
I think I posted pics of that bike a long time ago, it's a year old. I'll have something new pretty soon, and each one gets better.
Chance, I missed you Sunday, too bad you didn't catch me before the cat 3 race, I would have cheered for you. Maybe next time.

First, congrats to Jen on the Omnium.

Second, 3.5hrs of sleep a night doesn't cut it. No partying. If I wasn't sleeping, I was helping at Specilaized, with Jose (helped with the P12 women, I/II men, and P1 men), or trying to race (been racing crits all of 1 month now).

Third, believe I met you, Chance, on Saturday by the Specialized truck when I noticed that you were sporting a Spooky. Warmed up this morning behind you and your girls.

Forth, what was up with the crashes on days 1 and 2? Geeze.

Fifth, Coryn...what a speedy little beast. Or should I say "cocktail napkin with a motor attached".

Badass event. Looking forward to next year.

Yup that was me (us). Sunday was an EPIC fail for me. After Fri/Sat heat- I lasted like 10 laps and was OTB in a bad way. Our girls rallied HARD today and went 9th and 10th in the field sprint. They had to check up when there was the crash at the bottom of the hill.

This event is AWESOME and the town is great! Anybody from Cat5-PRO men or women need to put this on their calendar for 2011. First class all the way!

Hey, I did see you over the weekend. Well, I noticed the Spooky. It's nice (but unusual) to see something in a race that didn't pop out of a mold in Taiwan. I think I even yelled "Go Spooky" Saturday. I cheer for handmade bikes at races.
