Default Triangle North Carolina Forum Ride?

Would anyone be interested in a Triangle NC area forum ride in the near future?

Maybe somewhere near Chapel Hill/Carborro or between there and Hillsborough? Or Durham County?

Ride from somewhere near food and/or coffee and then have a sip and a bite after the ride?

I'm thinking a social kind of ride.(15-18) Or a faster group can split off and regroup etc...

Heck it looks like next Saturday it might be sunny and a high over 50.

    Thoughts?

I'd love to come up and ride sometime.
But next Saturday is a 200K Brevet.

    Default weaver street hillsborough perhaps

    I'm interested.

Weaver Street Grocery in downtown Hillsborough might be good meet spot. quick roll out to low traffic good scenery roads in many directions. Good coffee, beer, and food (and outdoor seating) for the return.

might be too far for the raleigh folk? Sundays best for me, but Saturday could work as well.

sixty degrees outside! time to leave work early and sneak a Vitamin D ride in. I'm leaving my delivery guy in charge of any unexpected drop in traffic.

Yeah, Old Durham Road is in Chapel Hill and Old Chapel Hill Rd goes into Durham... don't get me started on the region where 15-501 kinda turns into 54...

If you like a hilly ride Chapel Hill is good for that. May have access to a special road that gets close to 18% for about a quarter mile if you like that sorta thing.
Near the Apex/Cary area are rolling flats and less traffic with some lakeside views.

I'm up for it... so what's the head count?

They have been advancin towawds heeya fa awhile now my good suh... (said in best Shelby Foote voice)

They have made camp at a place neaya Durham and named it the Research Triangle Park. If we are decisive and quick in advance we may take them with an element of sewprise at the place called the RBC center. We have checked for guns and other weapons at the door and all they will have is numbers, beers and a few of their Canadian mercenaries will be holding a weapon they call a Hockey Stick. We must drive them out before they eat all of our remaining Baw-B-Que.

I'm good for Sunday too. (2/7)

Shall we say around noon? Supposed to be around 50 that day... That is Super Bowl Sunday. Game is around 6 or 6:30 I think..,

I am cool with Dave's idea of Hillsborough start/end near Weaver St Grocery. They gots killer fresh baked bread and soups etc..

If not then maybe ride from near Carrboro somewhere? (We could also roll out from the Weaver St Grocery there)

If we do the latter, then Disturbed will have a much better chance at hipster sightings.

Next time we can do it closer to Raleigh? Maybe near Suha in Apex area?

    Default weird roads

[Who the hell designed the road pattern in NC? Was it to confuse the advancing Northern army during the war of Northern aggression?]

many of the roads in the rural areas of the piedmont are loop or semicircle arcing roads that were specifically built to get the "main" road to the tobacco barn site where the harvested leaf could easily be loaded/transported.

I'm actually closer to Chapel Hill so a Hillsborough or Carrboro start sounds good to me. What kinda distance are we thinking here?

Is that Shady Lawn drive near the lake in Chapel Hill? I get up Damascus Church road fine, Mt. Sinai barely, but feel like I will literally die getting up Shady Lawn. Even going up Greensboro into Carrboro seems easier.

Nope but in some ways Shady Lawn does feel harder since it is longer. I'm referring to Morehead/Hoey Drive in the Governors Club community. It's gated but I have gotten in there before when I say I'm trying to get to Lystra from Mt. Carmel Church Rd or vice versa. The climb is short but it's gotta be the steepest climb in the Triangle. The view from the top seems to support that.

If we get going around noon or so then maybe a 2-3 hour ride? Then a bite etc... that'll give me enough time to get back to Raleigh to watch the Super Bowl with the family.

I am not familiar with many roads in the Hillsborough area but It sounds like some of you are...

    Cool?

I second Disturbed's non-hammer motion... my hammer is a little rubber toy that squeaks....
