Default Stupid climbing weekend in VT

Is anyone interesting in doing a climbing weekend out of my area of VT August 7-8? Google Map 189 Jersey St. Addison VT. 05491. We'd head east on Rt. 17 from there.

There are a lot of options for climbs including all 4 big gaps or an "easier" 2 gap ride that could roll out with a 4 gap ride.

The four gaps would be: Brandon from the west, Middlebury from the east, Lincoln from the west and finish with App Gap from the east. Scroll down to VT gaps. http://www.northeastcycling.com/Gap_Climbs.html

My thought was that we could base out of our place with its 25 easy mile roll till climbing really starts. They're a lot of B&B's around and I may have a awesome house on the lake we can rent a couple flat miles from our place if people are interested.

Friday arrivals can go for a ride before a BYO BBQ. Evening activities include but not limited to:

    Adult beverages.

    Fire.

    Jarts.

    Firearms.

    Adult beverages

    Fire.

Sat. can be the bigger ride followed by serious hanging out [see above activities] and Sun could be another big day or a bit more modest.

If we get the house we have private rooms for 5 and super private tent space. Again, local B&B's are like salad bars, they're everywhere.

Could be a nice tune up for D2r2.........

    So..........?

PS Skydiving available 1.5 miles from our house.......

Looks like we're already planning to be in the other valley that exact weekend for a family event. I think I can make these two plans jive.

Do I have to ride to the ride? That would make for one hell of a brutal day. It's 35-40 miles door-to-door depending on whether we take Lincoln or App Gap.

Well, the "hard part" of Lincoln from the east is only 1.5 miles...

Also, you do realize that your 4-gap route from south-to-north approaches three of the four gaps from the "easier" side...I thought this was a Stupid Climbing Weekend?

If you want to do Roxbury and Rochester as part of a ride we can take a mile detour and jump in the pond and maybe grab a free lunch.

Hell man I'm just trying to not scare people off. App Gap from the west sends you in to Lincoln from the east as you well know. I was thinking some people might not want to cry during the ride.........

I'm only the base camp for the weekend, the ride options are W I D E open.

Will those who do not participate in adult beverages and jarts have to participate in a Schutzhund demonstration?

Damn, did the google map thing, directions say drive east for a long time, stop and visit Douglas, drive NE for a while and meet new friends and old, 1000 miles and change. Might have to make a road trip. Alec are there any birds in season that early? I've got a sweet Benneli M90 20 that could follow along. It's a definite possibility.

Hey I'm planning a gap ride for next weekend and have a question someone here might be able to help with. If I want to get from Rt 125 on Middlebury Gap over to Lincoln and then to 17 at the top of Baby Gap (i.e. without descending all the way to 116), is there a good way to do this? I see some roads on the map, Natural Turnpike, South Lincoln, Quaker St and some others. I'm guessing there's some dirt there, but can anyone give me some info on whether or not this is a good idea?

I'm trying to do a Middlebury-App-Roxbury-Rochester but temper it a little so that we still have something left for a trip around the KSR stage 3 course on Sunday. Thanks.

125 to Lincoln to 17 @ the jersulam store [almost top of baby Gap] = dirt. Farther then I'd want to ride on it without a pretty fat tire.

Just descend to 116, other then a head wind it's an easy ride back to 17. Baby Gap ain't no thang.

Thanks, good to know. This group is not looking for an adventure ride, so we'll stay on the pavement. I know Baby Gap isn't bad, but shit, I'd like to take a crack at the top of App Gap in something more than survival mode. I guess I'll have to start on that side on of these days.

I have 6 Lincoln SC-90 trap machines [1 teal and 1 chondel machine] and a single stack ProMatic for sporting clays and you can shoot some pen raised pheasants over pointing/flushing dogs on Sunday....

Alec, your place sounds like an adult-themed amusement park...

...well, there's one thing I haven't yet heard about that an adult-themed amusement park should have (in my mind), but your setup still sounds legit.
Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated.

Here's the deal on the lake house.....

    $1000 bucks for Fri.-Sun. AM

Super private lake front location and the end of a 1/2 mile private drive. It has a walk out first floor a stones throw from the lake so when you're on the main living floor or deck you feel as though you're hanging over the lake.

Anyway, if people are interested the price can just get spit up between them. You can do the highly complex math......
