Last year SoCalSteve along with Tom B put on a rad SoCal/Los Angeles ride.

Its probably time to start thinking about it again. This time I'm thinking about something that's casually brutal.

Something like this:

(notice the 18 miles of downhill at the end)

Everything in that area is already burned away so there's little risk of forest fires.

Thinking about October. Last years was on Nov 1st. Maybe we should do a Halloween ride.

PS. Casually brutal means that I have no intention of racing up any of this but I'm also not thinking about having a SAG wagon. Cell phone reception is spotty at best.

Hey,

Recon and a visit to the SoCal Transit site tells me that riding in/around Mt. Washington is not possible unless you want to risk arrest.

SoCal Trans says Nov or December for Angeles Crest opening back up again

For those of ya'll interested in doing something else, we could easily do a

Santa Monica --> Topanga --> Old Topanga --> Stunt ride

Total mileage is ~ 50 and climbing is 3-3.5k feet.
