    Default Norcal Forum Ride

Anyone interested in a Peninsula forum ride?

Might I suggest departing from Woodside after being appropriately caffeinated for some climbing in the redwoods? I offer our humble cottage as the caffeine source (and departure/end point).

As for the route, I am thinking of a fairly simple route that climbs Kings Mountain, Old la Honda, Haskins, Stage and Tunitas before descending Kings back into Woodside. That would provide a bail-out option for those that want to do a shorter Kings/OLH loop (about 3500 feet of climbing) with the longer loop being about about 7,000 feet ...

Should we try for November 7?

I would be all over this BUT my wife is out of the country then and I have single-dad duty (piano, homework, etc.) great idea (as long as you guys agree to wait every now and again for me) ...so count me in for #2 and some post-ride libation

Don't count yourself out yet. I started this following Jason's courteous suggestion that we should cease hijacking the Socal ride thread and get our own. Other folks need to chime in as well so it's just the beginning of a conversation.

I could be convinced to trek west to meet a Norcal group. One idea might be to join up for the SFR 200K out to the lighthouse on 11/7....

What if a SoCal kid wanted to ride with the NorCal kids.

    Would a knife-fight ensue?

I don't do that Norcal/Socal, West Coast/East Coast trash ... had enough of the real thing when my dad was a public defender in Compton in the 80s ;)

false_aesthetic, you are welcome to an espresso and a guided ride anytime

    Default In?

Looking at the forecast it might be rain on Saturday, so folks might want to weigh in on saturday versus sunday or the following week. (next week might be better from a weather (and work -- for me) perspective)

Coffee, libations, a bit of food is on offer.

Proposed route is here (except Huddart Park "shortcut" on Kings, which does not map well):

I am likely doing this ride this weekend in any event ...

I can't make it this Saturday. Have a friend's b-day ride and dinner that day. But don't hold off on my account.

FYI, there's a small group of us doing a fixed gear ride from Berkeley to Davis on the 21st. Murder Burger is the destination. Then we'll hop on the train and ride back to the East Bay. I've done this a few times and it's a great way to wind down and laugh about the days events.

The distance is just about 100 miles on the button.

[edit] of course ALL bikes are welcome. Not just fixies. Just be warned of the fixie "pace" :D

JG, Great route. Pretty classic out/back. I usually do that from my house up page mill down west alpine. I can't make it but curious as to how long it takes you to ride that particular route.

more importantly....how'd your wife do on the cruella?

Thanks! Bride did a coast loop instead (more climbing!)

As for the ride, it looks to be off for this weekend due to lack of interest so be the first to propose an alternate date!
Note: If I am to cure gravlax I need at least 3-4 days notice ...

BTW, if anyone still wants to ride saturday or sunday of this week pm me. I'll be out (work permitting).

    Default What'd I miss?

I'm late to the thread, but count me in to the next ride, unless it's the same day as a Pilarcitos CX race. I'll keep an eye here.

    Thanks,
