Since we got on the subject of the KSR over in the general section, let's go with an events thread here.

We did a little recon this past weekend. Here are my findings.

Circuit race: Same course as the the old race, 4 east, 100a south, 100 north. 4 east is fine. The old bridge onto 100a is closed, and there is a temporary bridge next to it. While it is almost as wide as the original (narrow) bridge, there is a chicane of jersey barriers leading in and out of it. Traffic is controlled to one-way with a light, which I presume will be under manual control for the race.

The roads have taken a beating this winter. 100A, in particular the fast descent to 100 at Plymouth Union, has some MONSTER cracks in it. They were all painted up though, so hopefully they will be filled by the race. They were pretty bad. 100 has some too. Does anyone know if the finish will be in the old location, or if we will be going left onto 4west and finishing at the pedestrian bridge?

TT: Start at the brewery. Wide shoulder on 4W, very slight uphill. Excellent pavement. Little rollers passing the 100 junction. Sherburne Flats is always a headwind in that direction. Right turn at the white church right where the road starts to climb to the pass. Slight downhill on a good village road, then flat for about a mile. Course will end at the Killington town hall, where the road turns to dirt. This course if for the pure power riders who can stay seated and aero the entire way. Not technical at all.

RR: We did not get around the entire loop. Interesting thing is that starting at the pedestrian bridge (at least that is what it looks like on the map), then you get only a few miles of flat before you have to climb halfway up the pass to get to the 100N turnoff. It is not huge, but it would be "the climb" in a lot of races. Then it's all downhill to 107, lots of cracks in the pavement.

I have never seen 107 and 12. Anyone know what that climb is like?

The finish climb is now East Mountain Road (not West Mountain Road as it says on the flyer, I confirmed this with the promoter). This is the old Bear Mountain/Sunrise finish, except you go right at the fork, under the bridge. This used to be dirt, but it's all good pavement now. It climbs around 1000 feet in 2.25 miles before leveling out a bit and rolling through the condo village. Then it's left and up the main Killington ski road to the K1 base lodge.

Anyone else know more? I for one am happy to have a stage race that does not require any extra time off work. And the 40+ on Saturday is not until the afternoon. No postings on the TT and RR start times yet, but I'd guess the morning. I hope he spaces the field out more on the RR as mixing was always an issue at his other race (GMSR App stage). 5 minutes between is not nearly enough.
