Schedule, subject to revision on a whim of course
Ramblers,
Please, first, this is my house. Tread easy. This isn't an "event." The "rules" are the same ones you would have if you had, say, whoknowshowmany people descend on your house.
I've made some revisions to the schedule from past years and I'm open to input and suggestions. First, I offer the schedule, then underneath some explanation and a few more details.
Thursday, August 7th: Any early arrivals please drop me a note: dbrk@frontiernet.net I'd be happy to lead on an easy or hard ride in the afternoon, including Bopple Hill and/or West Gannett Hill Road (another legendary climb). I'll have some locals handy who know the way.
Friday, August 8th:
*"Official" first ride is 2hrs, begins from my house, departs promptly at 5pm from my driveway.
*Suggested dinner at MacGregor's Pub in Canandaigua. Easy access, nearby, excellent beer selection, typical pub food.
Saturday, August 9th:
*Morning Ride, departs promptly at 8:30AM from my house for THREE hours. Please arrive early enough to have yourself together.
*Lunch at my house at 1pm will be burgers, boca burgers, dogs and not-dogs, slaw, potato salad, junk food and picnic food. Veg and non-Veg food provided.
*Afternoon ride, 3:15 start, 1.5-2hrs only.
*Jumble: sell your crap on my lawn, starts whenever you like but 6pm will be the official time. All deals are private, of course.
*Dinner at 8pm at my house will be Indian and Italian both. Dinner will be only vegetarian.
Sunday, August 10th:
*Morning ride, departs 9am, two hours.
*Lunch, informal, leftovers, at the house when we are done. Bring some clothes so you can eat and hang smelly.
Riding: The pace is a ramble, not a race, not a training ride; no breakaways, no flying off the front for more than 500 meters before you wait up. If I find myself shouting "sit up" more than twice you will be sent to Guantanam and denied curry for dinner. Please, just be social and aware that not everyone has the same skills.
The "longer" Saturday ride is in the morning so that we can ride easy in the afternoon, perhaps dodge later afternoon weather (if it's been like it's been), and prepare for jumble and dinner.
Everyone rides at his or her own personal risk. No rules, no further disclaimers.
There will be proper porta-potties (outhouses), an outdoor sink, and plenty of fresh bottled water at my house. You can change behind the barn or get public naked on the property, no one but us bears live here.
Please park on the grass. Please do NOT block ANY of the driveway including the portion leading behind the house. There are acres of parking.
Please drive SLOWLY on the local roads. VERY VERY slowly when you get near the house and in my driveway (the house is not visible from the road!!) My neighbors and I are all xenophobic rednecks and do not appreciate people, let alone drivers racing about our backwater.
We'll be mostly on pavement with a few gravel interludes. You don't need fat tires and even average riding skills will make you safe. The difficult gravel roads are in particularly bad shape this year and only the most rustic and difficult roads (often closed in winter) are still gravel. So rest easy about tires selection, etc. Ride a bike you would ride on the road. There will be no cheat sheets or print outs of the routes. This keeps people together.
Mapquest to the address below. Look for the balloons or atmo or something at the opening of the driveway come Saturday morning.

Nota bene: The house is in the Town of Bristol, NY, which is too small to have a post office, hence the address above. Bristol uses three zip codes and towns, just to keep the foreigners off their marks. You are going to Bristol, not to Bloomfield if you need help from a local.
Qui plume a, guerre a. Ce monde est un vaste temple dédié à la discorde.
