Alta Alpina Cycling Club, former co-promoter of the Death Ride(R), is putting on the third edition of the Alta Alpina Challenge which is a multi-faceted ride with short rides with no major hills, a ride with a single mountain pass, a challenging century or up to 8 passes and anything in between that suits your fancy. The ride routes, maps and suggested depart times are fully customized based on the rider's abilities and desired route. Each rider receives their personalized map with listed cutoff times. If you miss one, you can just move to the next pass. Below are what we feel are some top ten reasons to sign up for this ride:
10. Ride as many passes as you like. No pressure to do 5, 8 or whatever
9. Riding Kingsbury (1st pass) in the morning gives a glorious sunrise
8. Riding Woodfords Canyon up to Hope Valley and Carson Pass in the morning has less traffic than the afternoon
7. Riding Woodfords Canyon in the morning has NO HEADWIND and is downright cool
6. Did you see the weather forecast below?
5. It is good training (3 passes suggested) for the Death Ride(R)
4. You can start anytime. Don't want to wake up at O:dark:30? Start your ride at a casual 11:00 and do the later passes of Ebbett's and Monitor fully supported
3. The weather is cooler in June
2. ALL proceeds go to cycling related activities such as trail access, safe bike routes and other bike friendly events
1. It is the BEST supported ride in the West since it is run by Cyclists for Cyclists
So head on to Alta Alpina Challenge and choose one of our best pre-selected routes or one that you prefer. Send Inquiries to inquiries@altaalpinachallenge.com.
P.S. The weather from noaa.gov is forecasted to be 49F in the morning and 79F in the afternoon with mostly sunny skies. Who can beat that for riding weather? I think most of our riders will have their best rides ever.
