you owe me $1,300 including interest.
i threw in a lap dance for sachs.
Awesome stuff. e-richie, do you know his whole schedule? Is he doing every race this week? Gang, the Superprestige tomorrow can be viewed on http://www.vt4.be/superprestigelive.php and the GVA Trophy races on the 30th and 1st are often shown live on Sporza.be. Brush up on your Flemish.
GO Will!
For the record- Pooch only wants me to pay him because I've got Euros. I tried to tell him to start dealing in E's cause they're worth so much more in the US. By the time I get back the currencies will flip and he'll get half as much, though.
As for the height. I'm definitely as tall as Jill Kellogg. Tom? You just favor her because she's your first and only! I understand. The adoption hasn't gone through yet. Say hello to her at home for me.
Rest day over at the house. Went for an HR cruise through Roeselare. I'm going downstairs to have a chat with Geoff Proctor after Nick comes back up.
More to come.
Cool, we've got Dugan in the house!!!

Chuck Norris is expected to win gold in every swimming competition at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, even though Chuck Norris does not swim. This is because when Chuck Norris enters the water, the water gets out of his way and Chuck Norris simply walks across the pool floor.

Dugan is his street name, Dragon is his race name.
from 12.28.08 diegem superprestige
it was a rough day out there today. on the warm up from 1:25-1:55, i crashed 3 turns in on an icy turn pretty hard. ironically, maybe 15 seconds before that i told dave hackworthy that i definitely had too much pressure. it was around 0C and the dirt had frozen over in places. the course itself was very exciting and wound through the streets of diegem, even through a little ally. there was a fast road descent and then the gravel turns took over. very loose and slippery.
i ended up missing my call up because i was on the trainer for a little too long and there was no room to get through. bjorn took it cause they screwed up his apparently. 4th row would have been better than the 8th! luckily the two crashes i weaved through within the first 300m took care of that and i was quickly into the top 30, which was nice. but the course was icy mixed into the dirt and the gravel turns were certainly daunting at speed. the course was fast, so you had to push the turns and i became very hesitant, very quickly. there were a lot of crashes and the crash on the pre race ride definitely didn't help my confidence. the good parts were that there were a lot of straight sections and a few road sections including a great climb, which i wasn't so shabby on.
the technical sections overwhelmed me, though. it was hard enough just to get to threshold except on the climb because i kept messing up and getting passed. it was frustrating to say the least. nobody wants people to think, "oh, his season's done now, definitely done." i've been doing some good training. i had a great talk with geoff proctor last night and told him that i wasn't feeling good at zolder and that i just did what i could. i've got time to ride my bike a lot now, and that's what i'm using it for. i might feel like crap through this week, but as i said, i've got to believe and be strong and know that this will only help for worlds and for my future. it's very emotional to be here and not get what you want. i had a talk with one of the juniors after his dnf at zolder about that. racing's mental itself and there's a lot that affects your racing outside of racing- the adjustment alone is new and different.
i did what i could today as well and made sure i finished. for me, finishing a race that tries your weaknesses is very important. you have to know your capabilities. simply finishing a race can benefit your overall competence as a rider in general. so i made sure i did. jeremy ferguson caught up to me, and i worked with him, giving him a good pull up the climb. nick weighall and dave were still behind. they had problems of their own. i was trying to get a feel for the course and to learn it. sometimes i come across courses that i just can't "figure out" and this was definitely one of them. so, i began to just have fun with it. "screw discouragement-why not use this to learn from? i know i have the ability to beat those guys anyway, i have to get something out of this. i'm here for a reason: dropping out is not an option," i thought to myself. this was a good alternative for me today.
coming up to the sand pit just behind ferguson's group (yet another group of riders that caught me after more crashing and sliding out), i found a good line. we would try to ride as fast and as far as possible until speed reduced, and then jump off and run to the end. this time i was curious to see if it was possible. i lost the track and flicked the wheel back into it maintaining some ugly balance. pushing the gear i had about 15 more feet to go. the tracks were covered with footprints from running here, but i knew if i just grinded it out i could get to the continuation of my line and get out of the trap. the spectators lined the trap and went "uh...uh...uhh!" as i grinded away. "ohhhhhh!" they yelled as i made it out, and i shot my fist in the air! that was exciting. sure, it was last lap and i was at the back of the field, but hell, i might have been one of a few to ride it. (then i watched mr. page bow to the crowd when he made it all the way through in the elite race a few hrs later on tv back at the house.) that put a smile on my face. so i rode to the finish. after crashing into a tree, dropping my chain twice, falling in the gravel with 2 to go, and being relatively demoralized with my hesitant riding, i got to the line and was satisfied with the day. i wouldn't have done anything different. i went from 30th to the back of the field, but that's alright. you can't get everything at once.
i've got a welt on my right foot, rash on my right hip from gravel, scrape and a bruise on my right shoulder from that tree and a weird shooting pain in my left knee when i move it, and a sweet race under my belt. plus, bart wellens rode past me, and that was really sweet, too.
excuse the informal entry, i'm tired and have to wash my clothes in the sink. you know why.
will
hey i love this stuff.

Way to go, Will! You have a real head on your shoulders...great job finshing the race! As you know, you can't get better by NOT racing or DNF'ing. Way to hang tough and RIDE that super tough sand pit. You're an inspiration, man, and we're all rooting for you!
