Took a trip down memory lane...here's a scanned a pic from ye olde days.
Definitely early 80's, before Trek had carbon steerer tubes...
This bike was great fun (although my sophisticated knowledge of bikes at the time was limited to: get on it, ride it, and go as hard as I could--best result was winning Manhattan Beach GP juniors race, the ONLY race I've ever won in my life!). Some things I'm noticing: all the cool kids had Magic Guanto gloves, Benotto tape (oh, red & white two-tone even!). Looks like there's Modolo Kronos shifters on there, along with a San Marco Concor colored seat cover (remember those goofy stretch-on things?).
The local team I rode for at the time (in southern cal.) was a rag tag crew and the team shop was a owned by a crusty old hardcore ("old school" is the appropriate term) european guy, but there were 1 or 2 guys who were def. national caliber and went on to great careers in bike racing land. It was a unique period of time I can look back on fondly with lots of great memories.
It's a funny thing, life.
So, post up some old pics or fun stories if you've got 'em!
