Digging the matte drab olive and the additional treatment on the head badge. Eric's got the full package wrapped in that bike.
We like that guy. Congratulations, it's a good thing.

Thanks for posting that up!
That bike (and the other in the story) have been getting some good press lately. I have added a few links in my Smoked Out. It's always fun to see which bikes people respond to.

Thanks for posting the picture. I found the story rather frustrating because it didn't show the whole bike, just some details. One thing, though: that bike doesn't look even remotely like something from the WWI era. I was expecting something much more roadster-like, with 66 degree head and seat angles, but this bike looks very modern.

Except for the fork rake and brakes, I think Eric did a pretty good job catching the essence of the bike in the photo and catalogue page.
I'm staying stum.
I think I did all right-
Remember, too- this is way smaller then the original (26" wheels) and designed to be more of a tribute then a strict reproduction (something we discussed at length before beginning). It needed to look right, but not at the expense of being appropriate for today's roads and rider.
As long as she's as happy as this guy I'll feel like it was a success!

I saw a beauty of a Winter Bicycle locked up in front of Cuba Cuba in Boulder today. They are even prettier in person.

So, basically, it's an homage rather than a reenactment. I'm fine with that, especially since the customer is fine with that; I just misunderstood what it was. And I'm sure, having ridden a DL-1 roadster on a daily basis for 5 years, that the Winter is far more satisfying to ride than the original bike.
